Bloody Modernisation

Post by MGB »

I just had a letter...

Can anyone tell me, am I likely to get my old postman (great guy)? Do most of the rounds get changed, or stay the same? I usually have my post between 11.30 and 12, yesterday it was 2 with a different postman, so I'm not optimistic about this...
And, if 'Darren Scofield' is the 'Delivery Sector Manager' for my local area, why is his address a PO Box in Plymouth?

Possibly, possibly not its in the lap of RM & CWU gods.

They all change on this new system from 1 man and 5 - 8 bags and 3.5hour deliveries - to - 2 Posties, 1 Van, 2 trolleys and 20 - 30 bags and up to 6 hour deliveries - Officially last letter delivery times are 3pm for urban areas, but whilst the new system is bedding it could be later.

A Sector Manager covers various different Deliver Offices rather than just one - so that's probably his HQ

He is most likely based at the local mail centre.
However they won't want loads of angry letters going there.
The Plymouth adress will be "its all working/deny everything HQ"

Well I like this! I used to get parcels and specials on the van about 7am, and my normal post between 11.30 and 12.00. Since the revision I've had parcels and specials in a different van, with a dozy looking bloke at about half 10, and normal post on only a few days since last Monday, at half 2, none so far today...

I spoke to my postie this morning. He says that "modernisation" is due to occur this summer at the local office and he may not be my postie anymore after that(sometimes, he's given a van delivery route in the next village). I'll miss him if he goes!
I am a Postcrosser, and penpaller. I send nice post.

Well I'm not sure quite what's going on, but my old postie and my old old postie (before the old one came about 5 years ago) are both doing my road, one on either side, out of the back of a ford focus with LWTs...
