Italy - 2nd class postman arrested not delivering 700kg

Second class postman arrested after he fails to deliver 700kg of mail
How about this for a second class service.

This is the amazing sight that greeted Italian police in Palermo after they arrested a lazy postman who had failed to deliver letters or parcels weighing a staggering 700kg for more than a year.

The work shy 56-year-old, who has been identified by police only as AP, came to light after locals complained they had not seen any correspondence for more than a year.

Police in Palermo on the island of Sicily were called in to investigate and after several days of following the postman they moved in and arrested him - as he took a sack of undelivered mail to his home.

A spokesman said: 'We discovered boxes and sacks of mail all over his property. There were bank statements credit card bills, registered letters, parcels and magazines.

Several people had gas and electricity cut off after they failed to pay bills that had not been delivered by the postman who simply dumped all the mail in his home and his garage and weighed a staggering 700kg

'Every now and then he would deliver the odd letter but moist of the time he just took it home with him and dumped it there.

'With letters that were registered or recorded he simply forged the signature of the recipient and then handed it into the sorting office.'

The spokesman added that they were now sifting through all the post and it would be sent to the correct addresses over the next few weeks.

Tonight the postman was in custody at Palermo's Ucciardone prison, home to Mafia mobsters, facing charges of embezzlement, abuse of office, interfering with the postal service and fraud.

If convicted he faces between three and ten years in jail.

Is that a whole stack of telephone directories on the left of the photo? Looks like a mountain of them but there only seem to be about 100 of them there - imagine getting them as a D2D one week!

I have repeatedly asked you to stop flirting with me online.
I am happily married. I'm not interested.

- - - Meanwhile, sort of back on track - - -

This bloke didn't make too much of an effort, did he?
Half the stuff appears to be banded and shrink wrapped.
Still why bother cutting and seperating it, if you already know that you won't be delivering it?
