Application update?

Post by AJ1987 »

Hey everyone,
I went for an interview for Postman/Postwoman with driving on Thursday (26th) and thought my interview went very well so have been eager to get a response from RM. The guy who conducted my interview said it'd take about a week for them to get back to me after the necessary checks had been done. I checked my online status and it said "added to waiting list" and on the emails sent, apparently sent on the friday (27th),there's an email there saying I was successful in the interview however there were other successful applicants and in this case they are unable to offer me the job but I would be added to waiting list. This email has never actually reached my email account.

1) Is the "added to waiting list" status changed automatically after "interview arranged" or is it actually possible that the day after the interview someone decided I wasnt to get the job?
2) I assumed a decision wouldn't be made until the necessary checks had come back?

Thanks to any one who can shed some light on this for me :)

To be honest they use a flawed system,I don't even think they know what they are doing.
Keep checking your status and contact them if you have contact details.

Good luck.

then after the security checks they have to find a date free for your induction day!

Sounds pretty much like what happened to me - I went for an interview which I felt went pretty well only to get an e mail the next day saying I was unsuccessful but was on the waiting list should a similar vacancy arise. Low and behold a few weeks later the exact same vacancy in the same depot arose so I whacked in my fast track application, got a call a couple of days later and had to wait a week or so for the security checks then another week for my induction day!

It'll be two weeks tomorrow since they rang to make the conditional offer and my status changed to processing security checks. My partner is starting a children's nursing degree and had to have a crb check done and her results took less than a week to come back which makes me think this is just a case of rm dragging their heels. Getting frustrated now because silly me put my job search on hold because i had got this job, makes me think I'd have been better off continuing to look elsewhere

Hopefully you should get a call within the next couple of days. My security only took a week but it might be a bit faster because I did a stint with royal mail in 2007 - not all that long ago it's a long-winded process though for sure.

This is how they work - I would seriously continue your job hunting even if you get the job

Just checked the RM website (as i do several times daily) and now status has changed to security checks passed! :Very Happy

How long does it usually take for the next step? Should I be waiting eagily by the phone?
