Book seems to have been stuck at Langley since 21/04

Post by StaceySGMW »

Hi all,

I ordered a book from Amazon.jp, which seemed to arrive in the UK no problem, however, when I track the item now, it says it arrived at HWDC Langley on the 21st, and that's the last thing I've heard of it. I've just contacted the Royal Mail through Twitter who just told me the same thing, that the tracking information says it arrived at Langley.

Apologies as I've not ordered from abroad before, and I was just wondering if this how long it normally takes? Or if it's still to go through customs? I don't know the protocol.

I'm only asking because I've not heard of anything in six days.

Regards,
Stacey.

It's Royal Mail's Bermuda triangle,no one knows what happens there.
Seriously,we really don't!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I get books once in a while from the states and they take 3-4 weeks, it seems like they arrive in the UK fairly quick, the only thing that I can think of is that they're all getting held up at customs.

Anyone at HWDC know if customs have got staff shortages?

Just had a book arrive from the USA this morning that was posted 4days short of a month ago, for what it's worth - and I'm still waiting on something that was posted from the US 5 weeks ago (which I'm going to open a claim on eBay for, if it doesn't turn up by the weekend).

International items in general seem to have really slowed down recently. For me, anyway.

I bought 2 band t-shirts from a UK distro about a month ago. They were sent by 2nd class post in a box that's typically used to send 12" vinyl. They took exactly 2 weeks to arrive (confirmed by posting date on the package).

I ordered a single CD from the same distro. It was sent by 2nd class post in a jiffy bag and arrived within 3 days (may even have been 2).
