PUSH or PULL

Post by 2tiredfeet »

Hi everyone, I'm looking for an answer, are lightweight (golf) trolley's supposed to be pulled behind or pushed in front of you?
What is the H&S guildline? I have been told one thing but have seen another.

31 The LWT is designed to be pulled and must only be pushed when going down hill.

Thank you, I have seen so many occasions like above. I just don't trust the manages to give me the right answer, quite often its finger in the air and see which way the wind blows with them.

The LWT has a metal "foot".
If you push the trolley you cannot see the foot.
If you hit anything solid with the foot the trolley will stop but you won't and the handle will catch you right in the most sensitive area.
Everyone will laugh...except you.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Always found it easier to push it. When I pulled it, it tended to catch my feet on the wheels!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Push it.
You've not got eyes in the back of your head and a sneak thief is likely to take mail from a pulled trolley.

i push mine, i find it a lot easier than dragging it behind me, plus it always seems to catch my foot which gets really annoying after a while.

Been off ill with a bad back. Seen 2 doctors and 2 physios and all of them have said to push the trolley. When you reach your arm behind you to pull a trolley you actualy twist your back slightly, hence putting an uneven strain on it.

Just a quick addition to my last post. If RM are so concerned about our health & safety then why are the LWT'S not adjustable. It is a case of one size fits all. At the minimum the arm should be adjustable in length. We are all different sizes, yet the LWT ixs the same for everyone. This was also mentioned by the experts.

That makes sense, but could someone with a better understanding of physics than me confirm that there's more resistance with and therefore more effort involved in pushing rather than pulling a trolley ?
Mothers push rather than pull prams but they're not too heavy and they like to keep an eye on their little darlings.
