European postal giant La Poste launches technology to give staff more control over business processes

The French Post Office, La Poste, the second largest European postal operator has streamlined its HR processes giving more control of data to employees.

Keen to improve the standardised wage, salary and accounting processes, La Poste has given business users control over rules and business processes.
La Poste processes large volumes of data. Given ever-increasing constraints, fast data processing is essential for generating accounting information and for financial management.

La Poste needed a reliable technical solution suitable for the architecture of its information system and a business-oriented solution that allows users to define and manage their own business rules.

The system provided by Axway Accounting Integration Suite will enable La Poste to improve business, functional, application and technical performance and processes; bring flexibility and agility to the management of business rules and parameter setting to interpret financial data; return to functional stakeholders a role in the definition and management of business rules and processes; implement standards to replace legacy applications developed in-house and based on out-of-date technologies; and, it is hoped, reduce overall costs.

"We needed to find a common solution for the different business units, to process transactions generated by the post office network, the mail delivery staff, and payroll for the postal workers," said Gérald Brisebard, accounting director for mail at La Poste. "By choosing Axway and moving to market standards, we have been able to greatly improve our performance and efficiency, from an accounting and a functional point of view, but also in terms of IT."

As a service producer, integrator and distributor, La Poste is the most diversified postal operator in Europe. La Poste has 250,000 employees and a network of 17,000 points of sale that serve 1 billion customers annually and process 26 billion objects.

WTF! Putting the "business speak", buzzwords and cliches to one side, what is this technology actually doing for La Poste?

Ahh - - could this be it?
"We needed to find a common solution for the different business units, to process transactions.
No doubt, someone's justified their salary with this hogwash but couldn't they just have said this in the first place?
"Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway."
