Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
After applying for his own job our CAM didn't get it. Some people in the region have started a petition saying how good his sales record is trying to get him reinstated.
Some of us were pleased he is no longer our CAM. Sales are not everything.
He was useless at other parts of the job, doing nothing about the bullying that takes place in our office which has been reported in the last 2 have your says.
So far only the manager in our office has signed the petition.
Is it only our region doing this?

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
This has happened to a fair number of CAMS I believe, our CAM didn't pass the assessment either. She is well respected and liked and our area has never done so well, I dread to think who we will get next. I think it is a disgrace that they are doing this to long standing members of the Post Office who have a proven track record of doing what has been asked of them, especially when there is no one there to step in to their shoes. Fair enough if they are crap, but ours certainly wasn't.

What goes around, comes around.
Why should the CAMs or any other wastes of a good salary in POL be exempt from getting crapped on?
Another quick question. Will anybody actually notice when a CAM has disappeared?

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
By what measure? The organiser of the petition mentioned above quoted sound sales performance as justification for the protest. What about other aspects: Efficiency, waiting times, customers service, costs, Staff Opinion Survey results, Sick Absence levels, stress related absence, and perhaps most pertinently, ability to manage and implement change?FinancialSpecialist wrote:our area has never done so well
If I were planning to make significant changes to the Crown Office Network in six months time I think I would be inclined to have Area Managers with the right skills in place well in advance.

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
As far as I know our area is doing well in pretty much all aspects, HYS has got better, sickness and costs are down and sales are up. I was gobsmacked to be honest, everyone is surprised. My fear is that our CAM was too supportive and not hard enough for the new business plans.

It sounds like you ought to organise a petition...

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
I am absolutely staggered that people are even thinking about starting petitions for CAMs keeping their jobs.
These are the same people who will not hesitate to get rid of YOU if your manager thinks that you are not engaged with the sales culture or if you voice your opinion too loudly.
Let me ask again; will anybody, apart from POL's accountants, notice if a CAM loses his or her job? Do you miss them when they are on leave? Do they add any value to your office? Or is this a management tier that POL could easily do without, given that Horizon Online does a pretty good job of keeping a check on everybody nowadays and the majority of CAMs simply aggravate most crown office staff (including the managers) anyway?
The only petition I would sign in respect of a CAM is to get rid, not keep!

All our CAM ever seemed to do was bully the manager into bullying the staff and threaten us with the conduct code if a Misery Shopper said that we didn't thank them for waiting - 'bout time they got a taste of their own medicine, I say

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
This "us and them" attitude is pathetic. The level of intelligence in this board is sometimes highly disturbing, I seriously wonder what the recruitment process was in your office when you joined?
There are crap CAMs and there are good CAMs, however the fact that so many have lost their jobs should be questioned and should arouse as much suspicion as losing colleagues off the counter. It seems if it is anyone other than counter staff, then everyone here goes
Is seeing people who have given their entire working lives to the company losing their jobs at the drop of a hat not disturbing to you in any way? More importantly - do you really think they lost their jobs because they implemented the sales model any mystery shops too strongly? It is far more likely to be the opposite.
Take a step back and have a look before rejoicing so easily in other's misfortune.

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
When you've had to put up with the banaal drivel spouted by the CAMs, Area managers, BDMs, or whatever else they may have been called over the years, then you might be a little more qualified to point the finger at those of us who yes, may be rejoicing a little at our alleged senior managers receiving what might be termed "some of their own medicine".
Anybody who thinks that these people had absolutely nothing to do with crown office closures over the years clearly has no understanding of how things work at levels above the little people.
Sorry? No.
Rejoicing? A little if I'm totally honest.
Worried? Past caring and have been for a number of years.
Let's see how some of these salary stealers get on in the real world where the sales model is NOT the be all and end all.

Re: Petition for CAMs not getting their own jobs
I was asked yesterday if I would like to contribute to a gift for our departing Area Manager, who by the way, I happen to like on a personal level. However I declined - he has not died, will still be able to live in comfort, and it seems will be found an alternative job within the organisation.
It would appear the petition has fallen on deaf ears...

Whilst I may not agree with your rose-tinted view of POL management, I certainly wouldn't stoop so low as to call you pathetic or question your level of intelligence.
If you really can't cope with people expressing an opinion that differs from yours without being rude, then perhaps you should refrain from joining in the discussion.
