Collection Day on postbox

Post by simmo11 »

Apologies for the random question but I am curious after posting some letters the other day :) Also, if I'm asking state (or RM) secrets here please feel free to shoot me :Very Happy

My question is though... how does it work with the little silver squares in the top of old pillar boxes (you know, the one that shows the delivery day e.g. Mon/Tue etc...). Does the driver have a little collection in his van that he carries round and changes each day or are the spares/unused ones stored in the box itself?

Thanks for the help and satisfying my curiosity :)

They are stored in the box, normally only 3 tabs in the box now and they are double sided Mon/Tues, Weds/Thur etc
Will now have to shoot you
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
