Well, I've been on pub crawls in both towns :chuckle And you have to drive past the Links to get into Llandudno (pretty much) so it's a hard one to miss!

Wales is scraping the bottom of the barrel isn't it when the village of St Asaph ( population 3,500 ) is all they can come up with for a new city ?

I've just learnt that many other people I've never heard of were also born there ;
"A number of famous people have strong links to St Asaph, having been born, raised, lived, worked or died in the city. These include Canadian actor Richard Ian Cox, William Morgan who translated the Bible into Welsh in 1588, the first archbishop of Wales Alfred George Edwards, singer Lisa Scott-Lee, composer William Mathias, former Wales football captain Ian Rush, the explorer and journalist Henry Morton Stanley, Dic Aberdaron, who taught himself Latin at the age of 11, Felicia Hemans (1793–1835), poet ("The boy stood on the burning deck"), and LET golfer Becky Brewerton. Another well-known individual, Geoffrey of Monmouth, served as bishop of St Asaph from 1152 to 1155."
I had though heard of the poem, but which versiion is the original ?
The Boy stood on the burning deck,
Whence all but he had fled,
The flame that lit the battle's wreck,
Shone round him o'er the dead.
The boy stood on the burning deck,
Having a game of cricket,
The ball rolled up his trouser leg,
And hit his 'middle wicket'.
:left:
The Boy stood on the burning deck,
Picking his nose like mad,
He rolled it up in little balls,
And flicked them at his dad.
The boy stood on the burning deck,
Eating some cream crackers,
A flame shot up his trouser leg,
and burnt off both his knackers.
:left:
The boy stood on the burning deck,
His feet were covered in blisters,
He'd burnt the socks right off his feet,
And had to wear his sister's.
:Very Happy
The boy stood on the burning deck,
When all the rest had fled,
And when his feet were burned away,
He stood upon his head.
The boy stood on the burning deck,
Shelling peas a penny a peck,
Did he wash his dirty neck,
Did he heck?
The boy stood on the burning deck,
His feet all covered in blisters,
The flames reached up and burned his pants,
And now he wears his sister's.

lol

When doing some research into famous people of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay I found that Lemmy from Motorhead worked at the Hotpoint factory, Timothy Dalton was born in C/Bay, William Roache who plays Ken Barlow in Corrie went to school here. I used to see Gordon Lorenz regularly around the area and used to speak with him.

And the two famous people born in Prestatyn are John Prescott and Carol Vordeman, neither of whom are proud of it.

He's not famous... Infamous, but not famous! I couldn't be doing with a celebrity lifestyle. The money, yes, the lifestyle, no :chuckle
