Re: STOLEN PARCEL WHAT TO DO NOW?
No, RM kindly gave me 6 first class stamps when they lost an item I sent recorded which they then lost at a DO... It wasn't worth more than £46 so I didn't sent it via special, and the buyer wouldn't have paid for SD anyway. So they would only "compensate" me 6 first class stampsmazza111 wrote:Probably nothing as they were under insured.

No, they would've given me 6 first class stamps for the delay anyway! Because in the meantime they lost another item for nearly 2 weeks lol I put in a P58 for that and got, yes you guessed it, 6 first class stamps! That did eventually arrive with the recipient though. It wasn't even around Xmas time eitherLounge Lizard wrote:It eventually came back after 15 weeks,TeeferTiger wrote:No, RM kindly gave me 6 first class stamps when they lost an item I sent recorded which they then lost at a DO... so you returned the 6 first class stamps
I wouldn't mind, but I take everything to the PO to get checked for size/weight etc and to have correct postage put on so it doesn't get surcharged, I print the address and postcode, and put my return address on the back. Do you think the sheer perfectness of the item sends the Mail Centre staff into shock? lol

Of course there is always the chance that the OP didn't send this parcel to Italy at all but instead sold the shoes on ebay and pocketed a tidy profit by claiming they were stolen by those wicked postmen at Royal Mail. Of course this is very unlikely to be the case as I'm sure the OP is a paragon of virtue and the idea would never have entered their head.

What the hell are you talking about, maybe you should read the thread, I am the only one who stands/has to loose anythingViewfindergeneral wrote:Of course there is always the chance that the OP didn't send this parcel to Italy at all but instead sold the shoes on ebay and pocketed a tidy profit by claiming they were stolen by those wicked postmen at Royal Mail. ...and maybe you didn't read my reply. You make spurious, unsubstantiated allegations against Royal Mail and their employees and you expect anyone to have any sympathy with you?angrycustomer wrote:What the hell are you talking about, maybe you should read the thread, I am the only one who stands/has to loose anythingViewfindergeneral wrote:Of course there is always the chance that the OP didn't send this parcel to Italy at all but instead sold the shoes on ebay and pocketed a tidy profit by claiming they were stolen by those wicked postmen at Royal Mail. In my opinion if you can afford to spend £265 on a pair of fancy shoes then you can afford to lose (NOTE spelling, not loose) £265 because of your own stupidity. There is nobody to blame but yourself so take a look in the mirror and repeat ten times "what a stupid prat I am for not ensuring that that I have purchased the correct postal service for my valuable parcel"

Re: STOLEN PARCEL WHAT TO DO NOW?
Yes, but usually the Post Office guys ask the value of the item. Now, call me cynical, but I never believed that was to ensure things were posted to obtain the right compensation level, I always assumed that was so they could "sell up" the products available... "Worth £75? Ooooh, you should definitely be sending this Special Delivery!" etc etc etc. £5 extra, cha ching, thank you muchly.*
So was this PO guy on the day just not interested in selling up the products available? I do believe that the OP should have sent it tracked, purely because of the fact it was going abroad, and should have made enquiries. However, shoulds, woulds and coulds have been discussed.
Just need to hope that it's just snow and if it's not, I'm going to blame the Italians. They are in a worse financial state you know
*Of course, I may be wrong about that, but I suspect it's at least one aspect as selling products is mentioned whenever PO jobs are advertised!

Re: STOLEN PARCEL WHAT TO DO NOW?
Well which tidy profit would I have pocketed exactly???????
I paid for something, sent it back for an exchange and lost it at my end where is my profitable scam in that, PS it had nothing to do with Ebay.
Anyway you are right, I already admitted that, although you are promoting the motto, "if you dont pay us enough we WILL steal your parcel and it will be your fault for not protecting it"

Re: STOLEN PARCEL WHAT TO DO NOW?
Wow, this is hotting up a bit..
I'd say it's very risky sending a package of that value just by standard airmail.., especially considering Italy's reputation.
Plus, don't you think it's a bit harsh coming on here and bringing the whole postal service down? You should've considered your options before sending the package and at that value considered a courier. If you choose to claim from RM (by giving proof of purchase (invoice, transaction receipt etc), they'll pay a maximum of £46). However, in my experience there's a good chance of the package turning up in a week or two - i've seen european airmail take a month sometimes...

Re: STOLEN PARCEL WHAT TO DO NOW?
There are many possible reasons for the missing shoes.
I think to go straight to the thieving postie scenario with absolutely no evidence was premature.
I also believe you were very naive to send anything of value abroad without insurance.
I would also suggest waiting a little longer...13 days is not an eternity when shipping abroad and since you paid so little to ship it...it will be going by the cheapest and by definition slowest possible method.

Can we have a picture of the missing shoes, so we can see if they were worth £265?
