Why is it that RM used to supply wellies in the winter, but since we have had to put up with the last winters we have none? I was working in -15 in thick snow after 15 mins my feet were wet, cold but management said that there is no national agreement on min temps we had to go out and suffer whilst they were in there homes nice and warm. Do they want us to go ill with hypothermia and sack us or what? Is there as minimum temp to work us in eg. -50 as we were told to wrap up, how about injuring ourselfs, why dont they just give us proper winterwear!!!! I was issued with size 11 spikes evan though I'm only a size 4

You H&S Rep should have done a weather warning with your DOM to see if is is safe by the sounds of it you should not be out!!
Order wellies via uniform phone i did got mine yesterday.
If you have not got the proper sized spikes refuse to go out on grounds of H&S, if you fell it would be done to you cause you took them, DOM could say he/she never told me that they were wrong.

the new uniform catalogue does not mention wellies

before leaving the office the severe weather action plan needs to be actioned
its an online program and it will state at the end if deliveries are to go out or not

Where I work we have no access to a rep of any kind,apart phoning to a Mail Centre, all we get is a call by management!! I wish that the union would help the rural offices, but we are out of sight and mind. Also why is it the uniform, does not have thermal coats, wooly jumpers etc, like the old one from the 80's and 90's, or is it my imagination that the winters are much colder now, where as past years we did not need the woolies etc? All we get now is a fleece, you have to use your own clothes to keep warm, not a good look RM give the public.

I've never seen wellies listed on any uniform list. Hence I went out and bought myself some snowboots a few months ago, not sure what would happen if I had a fall whilst out on delivery when I'm wearing them. Would I of been covered considering they are considerably better than RM footwear.

Since Royal Mail try to squirm out of any responsibility I would image they would make you blameworthy for any trip.

Why are neoprene "finger slit" gloves not standard issue RM uniform, so only the fingertip of two fingers and a thumb are exposed to the elements?
