Business friend of mine sent me an important small packet from Portugal to the UK on the 23rd Jan using the Portugese registered service.
The Portugese tracking showed the package arriving at Langley on the 26th Jan,so far so good !
The tracking has never updated from that point and no attempted delivery/delivery has been made.I work from home and i am at home for the mail every day.
Today 1st Feb the package has been received back by the sender in Portugal with no label of explanation or anything !
It appears to have got to Langley sat for 4 days and then been put back on a plane to Lisbon for no reason..
The package is correctly addressed,no problems there (i have photos),he sends me packages regularly with no problems up to now.
I'm baffled and annoyed, anybody shed any light on this ?
Cheers

Could be pure human error, as in someone put it in wrong bag, or read the originating address as the destination. Its also possible that the Portuguese service made the error, they have scanned it in as being sent to Langley (hence the state on 26 Jan), but returned it by mistake. Its difficult to say what exactly happened if there is no label but human error seems the most likely case.

Re: How can this happen at Langley !
Thanks for the reply !
This is getting stranger and stranger and really need some help with this..
The package was returned to the sender as previously mentioned.
Once he got it back he repackaged it and re-shipped along with another identical looking package at the same time.
I'm a watchmaker and these are just regular small packets containing old watch parts, movements etc.
Both packages were shipped at the same time and both were scanned in to Langley at precisely the same time on the 6th Feb.
One package was received by me on the 7th no problem at all and the other which contains the items originally returned to Portugal for no reason is nowhere to be seen yet again !
What is going on here ?
I have been down to the sorting office just on the off chance that it had not been delivered for some reason, but they have no trace of it.The counter guy was very helpful and tracked it on the RM intranet which showed it received at Langley and no further updates.
It is customary in Portugal to put both the sender and receiver address on the front,we thought there may have been some confusion over which was which so he clearly marked sender and receiver above each address.
Surely it shouldn't be this difficult to ship something within Europe?
I'm just baffled with this,my customer is getting increasingly annoyed as he is paying shipping fees and the package isn't getting out of Heathrow by the look of it.I fully expect this package will land back in Portugal over the next couple of days like it did last time !
