Hi, i accepted my offer yesterday. IHR you need to have it recommended by ATOS and you will get an offer according to your hours worked. I don't think you need to be in the pension scheme for it to be applicable, but I have been told that my pension will be frozen until my retirement age. I think if your over a certain age you can take a lump sum of the pension but someone will be able to explain that more as I aint old enough yet.
Have you been put forward for IHR?

If you are getting IHR with Lump Sum you do not need to be contributing to the RMPP . However if you are lucky enough to get IHR with Pension you do need to be contributing . That includes if for any reason colleagues have stopped paying into the fund . So be aware anyone who is considering withdrawing from the fund .

IHR is based on contracted hours plus allowances .

The Pension will be frozen until retirement age (60/65 or 55 under current legislation )

I find it disgraceful how RM can give IHR on the basis of a telephone call without the decency and respect of a face to face consultation .

Let's hope this is a random case . Also it should be by a Doctor not some Practioner . That is a big difference between the two .

Good luck to you though - but not everybody wants to go .

I saw the ATOS doc on Fri 13th. Was told yesterday I was finished and what my offer was if it was accepted. Got a call today to sign some release papers (sounds like Ive been inside) and that my lumper will be in the bank on Fri 3rd Feb.

So yeah very quick indeed, it seems the love to "get em out" as soon as they get the opportunity.

I had yet another ATOSser phone consultation this morning. She ran through all the normal questions.......pain/mobility/meds etc. Her last question was 'Have you considered IHR?'. News to me  according to her a manager should of discussed this with me before the phone appointment. My last question to her is do you consider me to be covered by DDA? Her opinion was yes. This is the first time IHR has ever been mentioned since my AOD and to be honest I was shocked. They seem to be dishing out IHR everywhere, is it just us full-timers? Not sure what to do for the best tbh

If you are covered under the old DDA Act, you shouls wait what measures the RM are going to do to help you.

A Duty that suits your medical needs will normally suffice.

Hi Im looking for some opinions and advice.I have posted this somewhere else but now Ive found this more relevant post.
I am a member of the union although never had any need to call upon their help before & cant even find any contact details of my rep( but im on to it! )
Im a 34 year old mother who's worked for Royal mail 25 hours p/w for four years with no past physical problems. Ive never had any notable time off work before.
Last September I started suffering from Sciatica. I continued working for 6 weeks or so with painkillers from the Drs but my manager was pressuring me saying that I should be doing my round quicker as when someone else covered it they managed to in better time than me. Due to the fact that previous to sciatica I never run over my hours whilst doing my round I decided I couldnt cope. I went to the Drs and they signed me off for 2 weeks. Im still signed off now & after 4 half hour atos arranged physio sessions Im no better. Im taking morphine and early signs are I have a slipped disc causing sciatica. My 1st Nhs appointment is next week. Today I had a call saying Royal mail have applied for me take early retirement due to ill health. WHAT?? Talk about kick me when im down! Is this normal or have they just taken a massive disliking to me?? Probably I got this slipped disc through work so shouldnt they at least give me the chance to get better before they kick me out? I love my job and defo dont want to leave at 34. (Thanks if your still reading!)

If you are invited to a medical, then go. Tell them that you are taking steps to get back to work, tell them the steps you have already taken. They may advise amended duties in the meantime, or get a rehab plan in place. You don't need to take the IHR when it's offered. BTW I only lost 2-3 days with my knee injury, however, because I was on a rehab plan they got rid.

Hi. Can you tell me if you get a minimum set amount offered in payment if you are to take ill health retirement or does it apply to the amount of years you have worked for royal mail? I have been reading through and am gathering that its 39 wks pay plus 9 weeks notice and any holiday pay that is owed but not sure if this applies to me as Ive only been working for r.m for just over 4 years. When I do have to retire early I will no longer be able to continue work in any company due to il health so am I entitled to a small amount of the pension that ive paid in over the past few years too? I have only paid a few quid per week into my pension as I work part time so im not holding my breath on it being loadsa wonga but it would be handy to have some idea of what Im to expect,
With thanks :thumbup

The lump sum is 34 weeks gross pay including allowances. You also get 9 weeks PILON, the lump is tax free, not sure about the PILON and tax though.
