Post by viking »

Has anyone on here been successful in getting IHR + immediate pension, and did you have to appeal to get it. Any info gratefully received. PM me if preferred :wave

Don't hold your breath.

I had an accident logged with the Industrial injuries board which in theory gives automatic access to the Ill health pension. I also satisfy the 10 year criteria> but have I recieved my pension. No!!!
Royal mail is above the Law so I don't hold out much for you recieving it. the Union says no-one is getting it now!
They have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds preventing me from accessing my pension which is a pittance anyway! They are disgusting human beings and I hope they become the victims of thier own policies.

There is nothing in the IHR agreement that mentions the 9 months or 10 year criteria for IHR Lump Sum or Pension .
It is mainly a rough guide and everyone's case is different .

In my old office recently a former colleague who was given IHR Lump Sum won his appeal and has been awarded a enchanced Pension .

I must stress that the agreement states that although you may be unable to work in the RM you may be able to work in another industry . That part of the agreement is vague at best and some may say that is the RM get out clause .

However , since the RM will soon be no longer liable for the RMPP it does make you wonder the lengths they go to ..

You are quoting the NIHRA which has a different definition of ill health.
The ill health pension is -part of the Pension Plan and the definition of Ill Health retirement depends upon which pension plan you are part of. Mine is pension plan C. You will note that this definition for all the pension plans has been made freely available in the last year. This is not a Union agreement.
It is the fact that I have forced Royal Mail Pension Plan Trustees to comply with the law.

There is an Agreement between the Trustees and the CWU that the definition of permanence is 10 years of sufferance.

It doesnt matter what Pension Plan ( A,B or C ) when it comes to IHR with immediate Pension.

While the 9 months or 10 years may be written in the IHR Agreement 2009, there is absolutely nothing stopping you working from Day 2 of accepting the Companies offer ( as long as you didnt commit fraud ).
