First Aid Provision at Delivery offices

just to put the cat amoung the pigeons, are you aware royal mail are breaking their own risk assessment and possibly the law in regard to first aiders on site for most delivery sectors?

their risk assessment states that a minimum of 1 first aider is required on site, this is the same as the h+s minimum, however they are cutting corners, every site has only 1 first aider, for sites between 5-50 there should be one and for every extra 50 an extra on top, BUT the issue is that this first aider has a day off each week and 5 weeks annual leave a year as well so at these times there is no first aider on site, there needs to be a minimum of 3 first aiders to cover all shifts, so first aider A is on day Off First aider B on annual Leave and First aider C in the office, might be worth highlighting this with your local branch as RM have been cutting too many corners recently with regard to H+S

they should have the minimum number required on all shifts not just when some are at work

we are classed as a higher hazard due to moving yorks, vehicles in yard, heavy lifting etc

Posted in here for second time, funny to notide a distint lack of comment from brothermagew on the issue especially after pming him about it about a month ago, i have the distinct feeling its an issue that neither RM or the CWU saftey dept want to deal with and are reluctant to raise

That's how i read his posting as well and yes he did PM me, but i would suggest that his general query about first aid provision would have been better put first to the CWU National Health and Safety Officer for his considered response if any. Having said that, my sincere apologies to brother zx135 for failing to respond to his PM, I had other more pressing issues to contend with at that time.
