I've worked at Macclesfield Delivery Office for two and a half years now. I enjoy being a postman but feel it's a crying shame that Royal Mail is being sailed up **** creek without a paddle.
In the short time I've been there, the squeeze is on~ Work harder, deliver MORE mail in a shorter time. Jobs lost without replacement etc. , make savings and cuts year on year, we all know the score.
Until Post Comm give us a level playing field , we have had it ~ giving it to the competition on a plate. Up the 13p per letter that we have to deliver TNT , DHL and the like's mail for, to stop them being able to undercut us so much.
Without the income from lucrative big contracts that are going to the opposition, we cannot continue to subsidise the loss made on our wonderful universal delivery to ALL including rural runs to small farms in the country.
Yes we do need to modernise to be more efficient, but Post Comm must act now before its too late and we lose the fantastic service, second to none. that Royal Mail has served the country with for years.
