Is the International Hub Customs working extra pre Xmas?

Just wondering if at this extremely busy time there were more staff and extra hours offered at the International Hub at Coventry in the run up to Xmas?

I buy in goods from USA and it takes a quick 3 days only to ship in from USA and from 6 to 8 days sat at the International hub fro Customs charging :sad:

I realise the hub must bring in tons of parcels but can deal with 50000 in an hour so never sure why it takes twice as long at UK than it takes to ship from USA?

We usually use express carriers such as FedEx at this time of year as they offer guarantees as regards delivery times, whereas ParcelForce seem to take their time (at the end of November we had a parcel sitting in the Int'l Hub for just over a week..).
However, PF have their perks (much less chance of getting charged by customs in my experience).

I would imagine that due to the recession, there have been cutbacks and that is causing further delays.
