Hi all, just got a few questions as new to the job, hope this is the right place to write:

1. I am worried about "wilful delay" - someone does my sorting and if I come to a miss sort while out on delivery (which is for a house on the otherside of my route), I have been bringing them back to the office to take them out the next day. Is this okay or a sackable offence? Obviously if was number 23 instead of 32 would just deliver them....just worried after seeing the big thing in Blue Shirts about it.

2. Do you guys walk over small fences between semidetached houses? Rather than walk alllll the way round both gardens etc? I have had a people (all elderly grumpy retired men) that have come out with a look on their face as if I had ripped their post in half and dumped it on their lawn! I mean Im just walking over a 10inch fence and there are pathways in frotn of each house so not walking on grass etc etc

3. At what point does it get REALLY busy for Xmas? Do you walk in one day and have 3x as many post/parcels etc?

4 Do you get issued any gloves when it gets colder?

It's acceptable to bring back missorts if delivering them is not practical...always endorse them "missort or m/s" date and initial.
It is not acceptable to kick the arse out of it.

Paths are for walking on..fences and gardens are not.
If you fall over a fence and break your ankle you will be in the deep brown stuff.
If you stepped over my fence you would get more than a look.

Tomorrow...and no...it's more than that.

Yes...they are crap but they are free.
Ask one of those idiots wearing the shirt&tie combo for a pair.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Hey!! Funny to see my initial questions now...just have a couple more:

1. I got a pay rise after 6 months (nice surprise) and have just been looking into possible transfer within RM to another DO and have seen in some other OPG job descriptions that you get a rise after 6months AND 12 months? If so, does anyone know what the pay rate (outside London) is after 12? Have been searching but not been able to find :oops: Anyone able to advise/link me please? Also is this the final pay rise?

2. Some of my colleagues have told me that their star time is gradually becoming later and later over the years. Do you think this will continue or is it now capped? Also has there been/do you think there may be cuts in hours as a part timer? Just trying to think long term...! :confused

3. I am very happy where I am at the moment but there is a place I have always wanted to live so been looking occasionally if RM is recruiting there...with a view to possible transfer. Do I have to apply, take the test and interview like I did when I first joined or is it a simple request for transfer and if RM record is tickety boo I simply report to a different DO? :dance

This is the first job I have had that I really enjoy, I absolutely love it and would recommend to anyone unhappy with their office jobs etc.

Thanks again all here, so much more information on this site than from any of my colleagues and :funneh ...DOM
