Thousands of redundancies in DO's

Post by markis »

I've heard that there are going to be thousands of redundancies within Delivery Offices, is this going to be due to Privatisation and sell of RM ? The mail still needs to be delivered so how can they get rid of thousands of postmen who do deliveries.

This is nothing new as DO's have their revisions many jobs have been lost as duties have been revised the transfer of packets onto walking and van share duties have contributed to this.
Also in our office we have seen backdoor redundancy as several members of full time staff have left on ill health retirement only to be replaced by people on short term, part time contracts.
The best way to ensure full time jobs is as you'ved heard all too often. Do the job properly fill your time with all the task set to you on a daily basis.

I was under the impression that thousands of redundancies in DO's will be due to privatisation ,if another big player took us over and changes that will happen in the foreseable future such as getting rid of the USO, part time workforce, no Saturday deliveries, 3 or 4 day week delivery, or even collecting your own mail, or paying extra to get it delivered to your front door.

I was also under the impression that Moya had stated that there was to be further job losses next year as we gear up to be privatised and I'm certain that if a buyer is found they too will be looking to get rid of people.God help those who are left.

But other threads on here indicate that Privatisation will not happen until April 2013 at the very earliest. and possibly not even in the lifetime of this parliament. And then we can all vote Labour because the CWU would never give money to a Party that might sell us down the river. That'd be like turkeys giving money to Bernard Matthews. Oh, hang on a minute ... :d'oh!

Caroline Lucas and the Green Party in my opinion seem to have more Socialist Values than the Labour party. :hmmmm
