Nov 14, Colombo: The collective trade unions of Postal Department of Sri Lanka are to hold a protest demonstration before the Central Mail Exchange today.
The media spokesman of the trade union collective Chinthaka Bandara said that a continuous fast would also be launched after the protest this afternoon. The postal workers are to walk out from overtime work as well from today, he says.
The trade unions demand the removal of Post Master General M.K.B. Dissanayake from the post and appointment of a new Post Master General.
Sri Lanka Minister of Postal Services Jeevan Kumaranatunga appointed a committee headed by the retired judge C.N. Silva to probe the allegations against Dissanayake.
The Committee found that he is guilty of 16 counts against him.
