TNT Post UK targets online retailers with new service

TNT Post UK has launched a new service for online retailers sending packets and parcels – and aims to become the main provider in this area in the UK.

The new service is part of the company’s strategy to grow its operations in the UK and TNT says it answers demand from eretailers for a reliable while cost-effective service.

Nick Wells, chief executive of TNT Post UK, said: “Our expansion into packets and parcels is a key part of our strategic growth plan in the UK. We have applied our principles of innovation, customer service and value for money to this new offer. We aim to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs.

“Online retail packets and parcel delivery is a growing trend within the postal sector and our focus is to be the main provider in this sector.”

The copmany says it has simplified the service it offers thanks to new automatic sorting machines. It offers flexible collections to suit the customer, and says there is no need to separate domestic and international items. It aims to be between 5% and 10% cheaper than competitor the Royal Mail and expects to deliver 17m items in the first year of operation. It is targeting vendors who promote their products through websites such as Kelkoo and eBay.

Guernsey Post is a launch customer for the service and its head of bulk mail Shaun Lihou said: “We have to ensure our clients receive an efficient and quality service and working with TNT Post UK will enable us to fulfil that promise.”

TNT Post UK is part of the Dutch postal carrier PostNL, and is the second largest postal company in the UK, handling more than 200m items a month for customers including BT and Centrica.
