Past 6pm but redelivery has not shown up
I arranged for some parcels to be redelivered but it is past 6pm and nothing has shown up. Should I just rearrange and hope they get it right next time?

Yes, sometimes these things are forgotten about, you should just have asked the postie if he had your packets and I'm sure it would be sorted.

Did you allow however many hours written on the back of the red card (often 24 but does vary from depot to depot) to pass before requesting redelivery? If you jumped the gun, the item(s) may not have been processed as being back at the depot following a failed delivery, so they will not be available to retrieve and label up for re-delivery.

Shouldn't make any difference. If you phone up to have a package redelivered then the next delivery will be the next day so the 24 hours will have passed by then. It's only 24 hours wait if the customers coming into the office to collect the parcel - you can phone up the moment the card drops through your letterbox and arrange to have it delivered the next day.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Did you allow however many hours written on the back of the red card (often 24 but does vary from depot to depot) to pass before requesting redelivery? Sounds like a slip-up somewhere. Either the person responsible for putting the packet back out has put the wrong packet out, put the wrong date for redelivery, put it onto the wrong delivery duty or just plain forgotten - it can easily happen at busyt times. I'd give the office a call and ask them to check what's up.

That depends on what's written on the card, I've seen some pouches not being back the next day, depending on how busy the mail centre is

48 hours is the official time limit for online redeliveriesL http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/cont ... d=37000673" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
48 working hours notice is required for a redelivery (this will be the earliest date selectable online) – if your item is due to be returned prior to this point it will have to be collected.

Same could be said of, if u had delivered it within the time specified by website and at PO! Remember not all parcels are expected, I have relatives that live on the other side of the country who send stuff, it's quite often that people don't know when stuff is sent to know when to wait in for it.
That's a real nice attitude to take with customers

Thats not the most helpfull comment on here tonight
As others have said it sounds like a slip up and i would guess the postie was not given the item to re- deliver. If possible try to get the number of your local delivery office and ring direct as email request seem to fail more often.

I should have noticed this one earlier and split it from this topic. Nothing wrong with complaining about customers in our Blue Shirts thread, but sounding off in their own forum is perhaps a little provocative.dblad wrote:Should have been there in the first place, sorry it's my pet hate lugging parcels around and then no one home.

I deleted your last post in this thread as that was outside the rules and a bit childish.

I disagree.
I dont take redelivery requests unless I have the item in hand
Maybe in small office its fine but we have 4 postcodes to cover and constant staff changes/swaps
I would rather they had to call again than sit in for a redelivery nobody has done

Re: Past 6pm but redelivery has not shown up
Work in a fairly large office (3 codes) and we just took redelivery requests as they came - generally mistakes came about due to the packets getting put out to the wrong duty or whoever was putting them out missing one off the list.custard wrote: I disagree.

How does it work with customers calling for redeliverys now that there's the 08456 number on the P739's? When I used to work in the callers office we had the office number printed on the back rather than the 08456 number. Do customers go through a menu and then get put through to their local office for redeliveries to be arranged or is it all centralised and offices get a list of redeliveries to process sent to them from customer services?
