Union leader more interested in furthering his political career than in the interests of members who pay their subs and thus his salary

Tom Jackson's post-dispute career included a nice little earner as a Director of the (then) Government-owned BP from 1975–1983

Alan Johnson MP was CWU leader before going into politics, and can hardly be said to have fought for us when it came to Postal Deregulation

Things HAVE changed outside of RM-land. I think markadam has a point. RM is still stuck in a time-warp of poor industrial relations, and that is not solely the fault of the management. The 1971 'class-struggle' approach to industrial relations is still prevalent yet most of us RM employees have the trappings of the 21st Century living when we're not actually at work.

I have had the misfortune to workfor angard for 5 weeks, they lie about full time work when it is actually oe shift, continuously fail to pay you, lie about sorting it out, blame the depot managers for everything, tell you they will call you back and don't.

Employment agencies are regulated by the DTI, making a formal complaint to them about ANGARD is very easy just go n line, enough complaints and they maybe shut down, any way I'm writing minetonight as my wages haven't bee right for 4 weeks and this week I haven't been paid any thing at all.

Unbelievable. I have just received my first Angard payslip for a nights work at the Mail Centre on 16th September. 8 hour shift £5.93 an hour funny I did an 8 hour shift as a RM casual and got £5.95 PH and £1.76 shift allowance. Thanks RM and Angard (same beast) I lost £14...how the f**k is this fair?

At no time was this drop in wage mentioned WTF's going on. As mentioned 1 shift in a month no calls from Angard where is the work?

Sypathise with you at this difficult time for workers markadam. You obviously realise that it's going to be difficult to get any joy out of RM they just don't give a s**t. Every quid they diddle out of your pocket is a saving for them!

Suggest you take wansfells advice and report them to the DTI and encourage every one like you to do the same. It just goes to show that whenever you're feeling hard done by there's always someone worse off than yourself. Good Luck.

Been with angard over a month only just received my wages (3 weeks late) to add to insult apparently all year round casuals may only be a back up to xmas casuals. Xmas casuals have been given start date and set hours, we have heard nothing and when we ask they don't give an answer they say they will call you back but they never do. Why did they change the previuos system it worked unlike this incompetent agency!
