Re: No More RM Casuals?
They don't care! What a way to run RM further into the ground. From what I have been offered this week by Angard they havn't a clue either, a 3 hour shift in Ashford that's a 60 mile round trip or deliveries in Herne Bay which I have never done. I want to work nights!!!

Re: No More RM Casuals?
Any chance you guys could run us through the procedure for getting on the Angard band wagon, seems to be different than trying it through RM,or is it exactly the same.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: No More RM Casuals?
Have gone from working 6 days a week for the past month, to just 8 hours for this week. Haven't received a contract from Angard either, despite calling them on Monday to be told that a mass mailing of contracts were posted on the Friday. Don't know what's going on. Haven't had any contact from RM or Angard, and I want to work

Re: No More RM Casuals?
There may be light at the end of the tunnel (and its not a train!). Spoke to my manager yesterday and it seems the first week has been a bit of a cock up! Angard have not local knowledge when it comes to people and jobs and have taken the "square peg/round hole" approach on placements and have caused no end of grief for local staffing arrangements that have worked in the past. I have been told that as of next week our local MC need for last minute staffing will revert to call on demand (I don't mind this I might add) and Angard will be informed who is in on the night.
Fingers crossed!
Fingers crossed!

Re: No More RM Casuals?
Well that's it then! Hours worked as RM Casual July/August 68 hours. Hours work with Angard since 11th Sept ......8 have told Angard until i'm blue in the face that my hours with RM were nights in the local MC a job I have done since last Christmas (for which I was kept on etc etc) I was mainly dealing with"Cut & Tip Mail sort. Angard have only offered me days which due to family commitments I cannot do. What's happening has the work gone away? I have always been busy at the MC I loved the job and in these hard times the money was much needed. I feel let down by RM

Re: No More RM Casuals?
Angard are in Meltdown, so dont wait to long on the phone, best move on and get another job.......... the CWU dont give a hoop about casuals and there pay rates or protecting the earnings of these most vunrable employees. They go from 5.95 plus Late/Night premium, plus holiday pay, to 5.93, 2p less per hour , no late allowance and no holiday pay, Sure some cracking representation at a national level i got !
Thought the CWU protected the rights of workers, should be ashamed, we might not pay union fees but what comes around goes around, shame on you CWU !

I hear and understand what you're saying. But how can the CWU (the Union or the membership) defend casuals when they always cross our picket lines when we are on strike?happy11 wrote:Thought the CWU protected the rights of workers, should be ashamed, we might not pay union fees but what comes around goes around, shame on you CWU !

There were a few casuals who REFUSED to cross a picket line at our MC once...baldrick wrote:I hear and understand what you're saying. They got their cards the next day, and were "escorted" off the premises.
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Re: No More RM Casuals?
As mentioned yesterday one shift since the Angard takeover expecting to be paid today.......nothing! Phoned and they have lost the paperwork despite me getting a phone call from Angard to ask if I had worked that week. I would say to anyone with Angard really check your hours. Previous posts seem to indicate that I won't be getting my £1.77 night allowance WTF how does that work?? I just hope there is going to be some Christmas work.
I must just comment on the attitude of some of the posters on here regarding Casuals, please remember this is 2011 not 1973 we have to earn a living by whatever means. The CWU couldn't give a stuff about you they take your sub's and piss it up the wall like all champaign socialists. Work in the big wide world outside of RM is a very scary place to be and the only person that will help you out is YOU. When I started I thought the rate of pay for throwing a few packets, sorting some letters and cutting some sacks was fair as long as my eight hours went by quickly and my pay went in on Friday I was happy the bank was happy the misses could go shopping. The thing that really gets me reading many of these posts is that the majority are so stuck in a timewarp of entitlement, getting far to much for far to little. Wake up change or when they finally let you out of you fluffy little worlds you face a world that has moved on to such an extent that you may find yourselves unemployable.

Has it moved on to a better place?
Have you benefited from this move?
Don't you wish you had the courage to draw a line in the sand to protect your terms and conditions?
The only people to benefit from the degradation of workers rights wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire and still you sell your labour to them for less than the next man and hold it up as something "modern".
It isn't modern Mark...it belongs in the Victorian era.
You are a fool to yourself and a danger to many.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: No More RM Casuals?
Why do you think the world has moved on Mark? - UNIONISATION OF THE WORKFORCE IS OVER ITS "DOG EAT DOG"
Has it moved on to a better place? NO
Have you benefited from this move? IF IT PAYS ME MORE THAN SITTING ON THE DOLE YES
Don't you wish you had the courage to draw a line in the sand to protect your terms and conditions? STRIKE? PLEASE BELIEVE ME IT WON'T ACHIEVE SOD ALL.
The only people to benefit from the degradation of workers rights wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire and still you sell your labour to them for less than the next man and hold it up as something "modern". SO NO CHANGE THEN
It isn't modern Mark...it belongs in the Victorian era. ADAPT TO SURVIVE
You are a fool to yourself and a danger to many MAYBE I AM BUT I WOULD RATHER WORK FOR A PITTANCE THAN NOT WORK
Working for RM for more than I would get with £65 a week on the dole wins for me everytime.
I quite agree workers in every walk of life are being shat on from a great height we are going back to Victorian dock gates labour. Unfortunately the world continues to turn, bills still need to be paid, kids clothed and fed.

Re: No More RM Casuals?
Seems theres a few new posters of late who are deliberately making comments to wind people up
You have the prat on the union board with the " I've got 400 quid you ain't" rant, and now this bloke.
You think weve been infected with some of moyas trolls,or is it just the hot weather turning peoples minds to mush?
