Cycle 2 work scheme

I bought my bike from halfords through the C2W scheme back in January.

Thing is, I haven't paid a dime towards it yet 6 months is an awful long time to procces an order, don't you think?

Anybody know how long it takes them to start taking payment/s? Or have I got away with it

I'm not on my own either As well as myself, three other lads at our place haven't started paying yet either

AFAIK it does not appear as a deduction on your pay chit. If I am right all they do is change your pay rate so you may well be paying it already.

I want to do the cycle2work scheme, but need an electric bike because I live 12 miles from work with some major hills. Problem is that it is difficult to get an e-bike for £500 or under. Very frustrating, if the voucher were for about £800, it would be much more practical.

Unfortunately they don't have showers in my office so arriving in work very sweaty would be very unfair on those around me, as well as uncomfortable for me.

I was glad when I received a phone call from a guy regarding the cycle2work scheme today , only to be disappointed when the bike I was after retailed at £540 at Halfords , and the scheme would not offer me the option of making up the £40 difference . Saw the same bike at Evans on the internet for £450 so getting nowhere again unfortunately .
Is there a way round this ?

as said before , try leisure lakes bikes, they accept the voucher, they maybe able to sort u out,

This seems great but can I clarify some costs please, most of the bikes with links on here are now dead links so I will use a Voodoo Hoodoo as an example :


I have 4 questions if anyone would be so kind as to help me please,

1.

This bike is priced at £499 & the payments are 18 x £9.87 & a final fee of £35 which totals £212.66
Is that it or are there any hidden extras ?

2.

With this being a reduction in salary not a deduction are there any National Insurance & tax reductions due to the reduction or are these the benefits already

3.

I would like to do overtime but I am close to the £16,000 Salary & as my salary is under this I don't pay Council Tax so if my Salary is reduced by £118.44 for the 1st year would I be able to do up to this amount in overtime & not exceed the £16,000 ceiling ?

4.

I realise it's a personal choice but has anyone got a working link to what they think is the best one available at Halfords ?

if they are still doing the offer then the Boardman Hybrid comp with £100 off is for me(i bought one)
however thats assuming your arent planning on doing much off roading (700c wheels,no suspension)

I would do a little off road occasional field etc but nothing major, yes they are still doing it but it's £599 :(

if you apply for C2W you get a voucher emailed to you for £100 off
so the comp is £499

Is this one very light with having no front or rear suspension ?

I took my old one for a run out today & used an Iphone app called sportypal coach, it tells u have far you have cycled

Try Endomondo, best app I've got on my phone. I use it when I'm out on my bike and also I use it to track my walk at work. Does altitude as well as speed and you can upload it to the website so you've got a record.

I am on that but for obvious reasons I have not linked it to Facebook or anything else - want to keep them guessing a bit longer.
