If I remember correctly Colleague Shares were brought in by Leighton and Crozier , the idea being that the privatisation would

be in the form of a John Lewis style sell-off, with these shares potentially being swapped for real ones to help grease the

transition. Senior management no doubt would have recieved a large tranche of preferential shares.

These two are long gone, I hope, and a new privatisation plan has evolved meaning the colleague shares plan is no longer needed

By scrapping colleague shares a number of advantages have no doubt been gained re the present privatisation plan.

To be honest the "shares" were nothing to do with shares and certainly nothing to do with owning the company.
All it was...was a lump sum which,by "increasing the value of the company" you could maybe make into a bigger lump sum.
The problem was it was always down to RM what secret formula was used to value the company.
The words Nigerian Lottery spring to mind. :whistle
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Lets just hope they don't ask for our bank details in order to pay in a vast sum of money for which we would have to pay a small deposit. :cool
