2 months ago I paid a bill by postal order and I lost the receipt, what can I do?

Please help me.

Is it what was always known as the counterfoil that you lost, and has the recipient claimed not to have received the postal order ?

To tell you briefly what happened:
In December, I hit a car, I talked to the insurance company to pay the car repair with my money.
A few months ago I received the bill and I went to the post and I paid the car repair,the car that was hit.
After a few days, my wife made clean and threw the bill and the receipt.
A few days ago, the insurance company sends me a letter and said that I have to pay a large sum.
Now I need the receipt to confirm at the insurance company that I paid.
