Housebound, in block of flats, cards left, but no parcels

hi folks,

I am currently housebound with a case of cellulitis, working from home, and in a ground floor flat, with a bank of letterboxes.

I get letter post OK - but historically, Royal Mail have delivered parcels to my flat without any hassles... until this week.
Weds this week - I get a red non-deliveryt card, but the entryphone is currently out of action - or when it IS active, all we can do is release the door.

Consequently - I have two parcels that were not delivered today - initial request was filed on Weds after I got the card.

I look in the postbox - to find another card. NOT ONCE did I hear the entryphone go.

I cannot go up myself - as I am housebound - what options can RM supply short so I can get these items?
The delivery office has no buses nearby - so even if I WAS mobile, it would mean taxis both ways... this is unacceptable.

Well if the entry phone is not working all the time TBH there is little point in trying to get it delivered to your address.

There are 2 options:

For £1.50 you could get it delivered to a nearby PO and collect it from there or..............(the money is paid on collection)

Get it redelivered to a friend/family member in the same post code area (the first part of the post code before the space)

They would do if they could get in but you yourself have said that the entry phone is not working properly so if the door can't be released because he can't get anyones attention, there is not much more he can do.

I hope you have complained about the entryphone to relevant authority to get the entryphone fixed.

Try waiting at the outside door until your postie arrives (should be sometime between 7am and 10pm), that way they won't have to try to buzz your flat.

Anyway, we aren't given the time anymore to do things like that, just to throw it into the nearest available letterbox.

I wonder how your postman feels having to cart around your parcel after getting no response at your door. THEN having to take it again the next day and still no response.

May I be so bold as to suggest you get your entry phone fixed.

All a postman can do is buzz, ring or knock. If that doesn't work there's not a lot he can do.

Have you contacted your local Delivery Office?

I'd hope that if you did a reasonable solution could be found. If you are always in and the postman can gain access then there shouldn't be a problem. You do need to ensure that the postman can gain access to your flat though - otherwise all the goodwil in the world isn't going to deliver a parcel.

Big differnce delivering to 30/40 drops a day and 600/900. Tesco pull up outside your block in a van so thats a bit of a give away that they've turned up. As stated we don't have time if the entry system is'nt working and no one can hear a knock what do you expect us to do break in?
