Hi genrally I am fine with my postie- and think the service is still a bargain but.... in the last year or so I have returned home to find parcells and large envelopes in my garden. On one occasion I narrowly saved my holiday snaps from the rain. On Wednesday I saw the reason for this. I was just pulling out of my drive and the postie came round the corner( our houses are built back to front, the back gate is on the road side), I hesitated incase the box in his hands was for me but he just casually threw it over next doors 6ft gate into their garden and walked away! I didn't have time to stop and question him but should I report this? Is this now standard behavior?
Thanks
Rob

No..it's not standard behaviour...it's idiotic behaviour.
If you feel comfortable approaching the guy a quick word should do the trick,if you don't,contact your local delivery office manager.
No decent postie will condone this behaviour.

Thanks for that, I don't normally catch the post on any day so will have to go up to the sorting office. Im not normally one to complain and don't want to get the guy in trouble but I couldn't believe my eyes!
Thanks to all the hard working posties out there.

Id urge you to let the local office know, if you have an item broke because of him you will find it really hard getting any compo from royalmail and you can rest assure he wont care about you

I've had a customer ask me to throw parcels over a wall into his back garden, I declined. But I'd say it sounds like this postie is making life easier for himself at his customers expense.

Re: postie problem-should I complain?
I'm sorry you've got a postie like that - those guys make all postal workers look bad.
I have the same problem. Try approaching the postman. If it doesn't work or he his rude, make a note of his badge number (If he has the decency to wear it) and go to the sorting office. If not, call the customer helpline.
Don't expect anything to change. Our postie has been mistreating mail for years with RM ignoring our complaints. He threw my package over the fence in the last month... only found it yesterday - chewed by foxes and ruined by the rain.
Good luck!

Re: postie problem-should I complain?
Yeah - Myself and other recently-employed posties I've talked to don't have a 3 figure badge number like they used to have. They just don't give them out any more. I had an old lady get very excited when I said I did not have one - she was convinced I was trying to avoid giving it her. Strangely enough, most offices keep a track of who is delivering to which addresses on any particular day, so no number is necessary.
As for the idiot throwing parcels over tall fences - report him. The sooner he goes the better. Like someone said - anyone inconsiderate enough to do that is unlikely to respond acceptably to a friendly (or otherwise) word. If you threaten to report him, he may just stop doing it in view of your house but continue to do it to the remaining majority of his walk. IMO, he should be cautioned, monitored and removed if he does not change his ways, as he is giving us a bad name.

(edit: does not change his ways)
