Standard Parcels delay

Post by coogers »

Hello posties.

Sent a parcel (3.2kg, about 2.5 ft by 1.5 ft x 9 inches, properly addressed) from Chelmsford to Guildford GU4 8SH on 13 June. Still not arrived by 22 June.

Previously SP has been pretty reliable, sometimes delivered next day, but never more than 3 days.

The (non-) recipient is getting twitchy. As am I. They've checked with the Guildford sorting office and ParcelForce (would they even have it? - I dunno), no trace.

Where else might it be? What might have delayed it for so long? Is this level of delay common?

I've asked that they wait until this weekend - beyond that, I think I'll have to refund them.

It's white with dark grey tape - perhaps someone could have a look...

Cheers,
Coogers.

Guilford deliveries did make the news last month - see here http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... rd#p385298" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so its possible it may be tied up in some back log, but as I am in Huddersfield rather than Guilford I can't confirm that.

Thanks for that - I searched for Guildford before posting and nothing came up.

They seem to imply they're back to normal now.

Oh well. Maybe it's stuck somewhere else in the chain then.

Cheers.

Could I ask a question re compensation?

From the RM page:
http://www2.royalmail.com/customer-serv ... ation-lost" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"For stamped and metered items a postage refund plus compensation on the basis of actual loss..."

I have the receipt, it was sent by Standard Parcels at a post office. They printed off a label and stuck it to the box, but I didn't look at it particularly.

Is my item "stamped and metered"? It's clear as mud to me (but no doubt blindingly obvious to you).

Thanks in advance.

Yours most definitely will be stamped mail - metered mail is something entirely different so I would not worry about it.

Thank you very much for your helpful reply.

I read the page as meaning both stamped AND metered - maybe that could be more clearly worded.
