Postal Services Act 2011

The Postal Services Bill received Royal Assent on Monday June 13th, becoming the Postal Services Act. The amended Postal Services Act can be viewed on the Parliamentary Website : http://www.publications.parliament.uk/p ... 6.1-6.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Government will be seeking State Aid clearance from the European Union to cover the cost of the pensions deficit and additional Government funding of the industry before any potential privatisation. No definite timescale is known on this, but it would seem to be late Spring/early Summer 2012.

The Union is in touch with Labour MEPs to seek further clarification on these matters.

This clearance has to be received before any sale is possible. Actuarial sale is a further process of which there is no indication from the Government yet of its preferred form of sale. The Union continues to oppose the sale and will update Branches accordingly.
