Ok so I'm not advocating violence or criminal damage here, but isn't what is happening to our beloved RM just exactly that? It is being systematically dismantled in front of us and WE are not doing anything substantial to stop it.
Why on Earth are we handling competitors mail?! These very parasites and leeches are the same companies who want to 'murder Royal Mail.' And we are letting them. Dance with the devil and watch what happens.
It's about time we stood up and made the public aware of the political farce that is being driven by the EU to kill our Royal Mail.
If this were during the years of the 'Luddite uprising', not a postie in Britain would handle 'DOWN STREAM ACCESS MAIL.
You find Tesco's delivering Farm Foods products because some faceless 'EuroCrat' in Brussels tells our government that it has to do it. There's a bloody big can of worms to be opene here that could STOP PRIVATISATION DEAD! But we have to be un ited and get the public to back us so that we can support them, doing what we do! DELIVERING A PUBLIC SERVICE!!!!!!

All way too late, it should have been done way back in 2003 when large bulk mailings were the first to go DSA - but the union did NOTHING!

The EU signs up to World Trade Organisation agreements and Britain can't sign these agreements on its own. The EU decided to liberalise the postal market so that other countries would be obliged to do the same if they want to trade with us. The idea is to get younger capitalist economies to agree to allow the established capitalist economies to take their profits.

excellent point, you don't see morrisons selling tesco's food,,, Royal Mail has been set up to fail,, if Royal mail didn't have all its profits creamed off by TNT and FIRST POST,, and other companies leaching Royal Mail PROFITS,, the company would be well up there making millions in profit.. THE GOVERNMENT are DICTATORS to the people of Britian.. while at the same time helping themselves to TAX payers money in expenses,,, our money, that should be going to the country, not politicians,,, it's the working class and poor who always lose...

Please someone correct me if i'm wrong here but -

...if case history is observed accurately the union apparently did do quite a lot at the time; they welcomed DSA, they agreed to it, wanted it, signed it up, and thought in their utter stupidity it would open up the markets for our advantage.

I remember very clearly being so utterly gob-smacked at the time by this sheer example of union incompetence

How many of us would be prepared to just deliver our own stuff for 1 week, i wonder?
If the CWU really wanted to make a point to the Government, Postcon, The general public and private business then the CWU would 'Ask' its members for 1 week to only handle 1st, 2nd class, RM Mailsort, D2Ds, Recorded, tracked, and specials. Basically if its got TNT, DHL on etc then they will not recieve any service by the workers at RM for 1 week as we will be striking against the competion and more to the point the regulation that floats this crooked boat.

i think that is an excellent idea... well of course i would after suggesting something similar last year (quote below) but apparently it has too many legal implementations, the managers would probably get us out on strike extra quick if we tried it, but it's probably far too late now anyways...
The privatisation bill has gone though parliament like an express train at full speed which goes to show how most politicians are merely a low-life form of corrupt Muppet-Puppet acting out a role for their greedy capitalist masters.

I hate to say this but i have that sinking feeling we're stuffed.

All this talk about going out on strike...
just a suggestion guys but if there's going to be IA, instead of strike action could we not go into work (and so get paid) but stage IA in a mass boycott of all DSA mail?
The general public would not get hurt by this, and we could reassure the public that we are RM staff processing, sorting and delivering proper paid correspondence for RM only, all DSA mail can get left in a big pile in a corner of the office somewhere... they can always send it back to TNT, DHL et al who can try deliver it themselves, or stick it where the sun don't shine.
