I've just posted a parcel to someone, 1st Class Recorded Signed for, only to discover that I've sent it to the wrong address. Stupidly, I forgot to put my return address on the back of the parcel. If it isn't signed for, how will the Post Office return it to me - do they open it? And should the counter staff have asked for my return address, as I'd asked for Recorded Signed for?

Re: Help Please
I went down there and it had left but they told me they wouldn't be able to hand it back to me anyway, even if I'd asked 5 mins after I'd left it

Re: Help Please
The item will be delivered to the address on the packet , if there is no such address or the people at the address refuse it the item will be " killed off " and should be returned to you. As you have failed to put a return address on the packet it will be sent to RLB in Belfast and opened to see if there is anyway of locating the owner. Since this was a recorded item you may have some luck if you could supply RLB with the recorded number and your address. This may take a few weeks though. Ring Royal Mail customer services asking for details about claiming any mail at NRC in Belfast. The number is 08457 740740.

Re: Help Please
How "wrong" is the address?
Have you sent it to 23 instead of 21?
Have you sent it to Acacia Ave instead of Acacia Rd?
Have you sent it to Liverpool instead of Leeds?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Help Please
Thank you all for your help - I will ring the number you gave me and see if they can help.
Not really my fault - I was sending something to a customer who has the wrong address on her PayPal account. It's actually a completely wrong address - not even the right country! It's to her previous address so I'm hoping perhaps she will be in touch with the new residents and try and arrange something.
What a pain it has to be taken to Belfast though! That bit my fault, fancy forgetting to put a return address on the outside.... my address is inside though.

you have fulfilled your contract according to paypal rules.
if you sent it to any other address than the one confirmed with PP any protection they offer would be void.
i would just let the buyer know and forget about it
