Poste Italiane Delivers the First 'zero-emission' Letter in Pisa http://www.newswiretoday.com/news/91353/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Poste Italiane, the Italian Post Office, deploys its electric-powered fleet to deliver the first "zero-emissions" letter in Pisa on the occasion of the second edition of the Green City Energy Forum. This international event dedicated to new energy resources for the development of smart cities is being held in Pisa at the San Michele degli Scalzi Exhibition Centre on May 26th and 27th, 2011.
The initiative stems from a memorandum of understanding between Poste Italiane, Enel and the Municipality of Pisa, in which the city of the leaning tower will be the site for the first test of the use of electric vehicles to deliver mail in the historical city centre. Since last April, the Italian Post Office has been operating nine green vehicles (three vans and six quads, all electrically powered), which "fill up their tank" at nine recharging points (home stations) installed by Enel at the local sorting office in via Cannizzaro.
On the morning of the 26th, a convoy of electric vehicles will leave from Piazza dei Miracoli, with the two types of zero-emissions vehicles from Poste Italiane’s fleet taking the lead.
During the parade, the convoy will stop at one of the public recharging stations for electric vehicles installed in the streets of the city by Enel (enel.com) in collaboration with the Municipality of Pisa, where recharging operations will be presented to the media.
This pause will allow a Poste Italiane employee and a very special "co-pilot", the Mayor of Pisa Marco Filippeschi, to deliver the first "zero-emissions" letter on board an electric quad.
The parade will end at 9:30 am. with the arrival of the convoy at the Exhibition Centre in Via delle Piagge and the official opening of the Conference by the Mayor.
In the afternoon session of the event, representatives from Poste Italiane and Enel, along with distinguished participants from government and industry, will discuss electric mobility in Italy, ranging from experimental projects to development plans at the regional and national levels.

That's right.DGP1 wrote:Where does the power come from to power the vehicles
does it not just move the emissions to another place
The only 'zero emission' letters I know are posted at the Post Office adjacent to my SPDO and delivered by bicycle.

And even then, the power used in the SPDO must come from somewhere so even that can't be 'Zero-emission'. The best term should be lower emission or emissions shoved somewhere else.Lounge Lizard wrote:That's right.DGP1 wrote:Where does the power come from to power the vehicles

delivering a zero emission letter to pander to the belief of eco loons.
corporate benevolence and a marketing ploy
the belief that the future of humanity is at stake if temperatures rise by a few degrees is bollocks
global warming is bullshit
tax con
its a shame that modern leftism discarded the working man and jumped on the bandwagon of alarmism and corporate socialism (fascism)

Ah - I do love the "its all bullshit because I say so" argument - it always fills me with hope that a cognisant argument will soon be forthcoming, but invariably I am always disappointed.anini wrote:delivering a zero emission letter to pander to the belief of eco loons.

Although I remain to be convinced either way I do tend to lean towards the "lets prepare just in case" side of the argument, why - well so many have delared something is bollocks only to be proved wrong.
Ramases - No the slaves won't leave.
Chamberlain - Hitler poses no threat.
King Charles - There will never be a revolution.
