Are all these 'large donations' a tax scam? Why would people send donations to a charity in another country :hmmmm
Anyway on the subject of so called 'Registered' items from Ireland. I often have them turn up having been sorted with the 'normal' mail and not collected from the locker. They are treated just like Recorded items and not Specials.
Other ones don't require a signature and yet others wont even scan into the PDAs.

So its entirely possible that they "Gunned it" at the locker but then when the PDA user tried to scan it on delivery it wouldn't accept it. Ergo it may have been delivered without tracking. But then its a moot point as the OP would have checked it with the receiver, wouldn't she.

Hi

On the question of a large donation and tax scam, I find it very ignorant of you to say this, yes I do live in another country but I and five other sets of parents who lost their
children to a rare cancer called ewings sarcoma and osteosarcoma formed a charity to put money into its research and to support parents with information as they are called
orphan cancers and get no research done by pharmacutical companies or government funding or indeed anyone we have to do it ourselves. and as the population of the UK is 70 million
or thereabouts and the republic of ireland is only around 4 million more research and studies can be conducted in the larger amount of tumours.
I have spent five years raising money to keep the charity going, in fact the money in the envelope was the result of my son and his friend climbing mount kilimanjaro
on the 24th of march 2011 and I stood for months in the cold in the winter in supermarkets selling raffle tickets and running different events and its tough in a recession.
another parent whom I meet in denmark on a fund-raising cycle who had lost his only child got in contact with me and said he would like to donate. all charity donations
are tax free if you did not know. cancer knows no borders you may know this or maybe not.
I do not know why I am even bothering to explain myself. this is my last post I am not wasting my time, I will let the police handle it. I can see I can expect nothing only ignorance.

If the item contained money and is still at HWDC, it may be that HMRC have held it for some reason or have charged duty and/or tax on it. If there is a customs fee to pay and the addressee doesn't wish to pay the fee then the item gets returned to HMRC. I don't know what would happen to an item then.

What's the betting she didn't fill out the address properly or has awful handwriting so that the address is unreadable. Then to top it off no return address is written on the back. The amount of Specials both domestic and foreign I have seen with botched addresses and no return address on is unbelievable. Yet I can say with 100% certainty that every doughnut that posted them will swear blind they put the correct address on.

It could be sitting in some sorting office in Ireland somewhere after being sent back waiting to be binned because they don't know where to send it.

Hi

well my letter still says on its way on the tracking system of the Royal Mail,
and I have complained to the Board of the royal mail, they had an investigation done and turned up nothing.
well moral of the story is do not trust registered mail with anything you care about.

I am getting a replacement cheque for the lost one and the bank replaced the bank drafts.

It was a complete waste of energy and time on my part and it goes to show you
no-one's mail is safe and when its gone its gone.

good-bye for ever

I would say that the moral of the story is that sometimes mistakes happen due to human error, but i guess 99.9% of us knew that already! :shhhhh
