Dingo I agree that a London issue should be a national issue isn't that what a trade union is all about, but people like us are the minority and that is why Royal Mail have the advantage with the spin they put on things.
The unit Reps like myself don't have the time to constantly go round the members to drum up support by trying to explain the real situation and if a meeting is called not all members turn up, while the Dom can address the whole office with the lies in one meeting.
I also believe that the constant bullying that has continued even after the agreement, and I believe should have been dealt with and not brushed aside, has placed the staff into submission. It is going to be hard to convince them to join the fight; one which I believe like you is worth having.

I'm afraid, dingo that if HQ had been willing to listen to members and address the issues with the BTA in delivery 6 months ago...we may be looking at a different outcome.
Instead there was an arrogant assumption that the members were liars, unwilling to change and prone to "scare stories"....this was a big mistake because now it just looks as if they are playing to the crowd whether they wish to resolve those issues or not.
Members have lost all trust in HQ,not because of BTA but because of the way it was sold to them and the way it has been enforced since...
You should not blame the members too much because they have done exactly what has been asked of them, when they were asked to strike...they did...when they were asked to accept the agreement....they did....when they have been asked to implement the agreement....they have.
Now hopefully when they are asked to fight compulsory redundancies...they will...but they will have to be convinced that
a)It is a real threat not just a perceived threat.
b)That their issues will not be sidelined or "bargained away".
You may feel that London deserves better but the truth is the whole membership deserved better than the shoddy treatment over the last 18 months...until HQ can admit that to itself...the union is indeed a "busted flush".

If there is a strike, when RM & CWU get together for talks --
In exchange for no Compulsary redundancy, what will the CWU bargain away on our behalf ?
Driving allowance ?
Bank Holiday pay ?
4 Day weeks ?
Increase in D2D's to 10 a week ?
Our pension ?
You can bet it'll be the deal of the century 2

RML have proven they can not deliver their promises as they will allways seek to deviate when the unknown future becomes a known present and the present turns out to be not as good as they hoped for.
