Due to Bank Holidays the closing date for petitions has been extended until Monday 9th May.
Also find attached, for your information, a copy of a letter sent to Regional Secretaries clarifying the pensions campaign.

Pension’s campaign material

I circulated to yourselves and Branches information about campaign material available for use from LDC. This has raised a number of queries about the pension campaign. Even though this matter has been discussed at the PEC and the DGS(P) is fully aware that I have circulated and agreed to pension petitions being returned to me, as Chair of the Postal Executive, the campaign is not a national campaign. The PEC and the DGS(P) believe the campaign has to be seen, to Royal Mail, as a bottom up, not top down campaign.
The reason I have circulated and requested Branches may want to use the LDC material has been to get the ball rolling. Branches do not have to use this material, but others may wish to utilise the LDC campaign materials and petition to engage with members about the decision to use CPI not RPI for pensions that do not have a written commitment on RPI.
Obviously, as there is not a national campaign on Royal Mail Pensions it does not preclude any local campaigns and each Branch and Region will decide if they want to campaign on pensions. Nationally we are engaging the Government and Royal Mail on the issue of pensions but it would assist us greatly if there was a ground swell of opinion opposed to the use of CPI.
Any Regions and Branches who are petitioning their members on pensions should, were possible, send completed petitions to me by the 26th April.
