might be tough to answer

Post by sniper505 »

Hi

On a wing and a prayer with this one, just joined... I have to prove that I did not receive a letter in late march 2007, yes I know 2007, its a long shot.

Can anyone recall, if any problems occurred ethier at northampton (departure point) or sheffield (delivery point) around late march/early april 07, which could have effected post in these areas for any reason.

Regards

March 2007 was the very start of a period of Industrial problems in Royal Mail, although there were not any official strikes till June or July. You could try and research your Delivery Office on Google News to see it there was any local action around that time, but off the top of my head can't remember any.

How on earth can you prove 'a negative'?

Can they prove they sent the letter? Unles it was tracked and signed by you I do not see how you have anything to prove, or even could?

Hi

Thanks for the prompt responses, this letter was not recorded/ tracked and signed for.

The problem is, the person concerned believes that all post is 100% delivered and I need to find a valid reason that this is not the case, I understand its almost impossible to answer the question. They want proof and I dont have any.

I see

In that case they need to prove to you, not you to them. As custard says, RM never can say they deliver 100% of mail and with good reason, it's just not the way it works.
