Anyone know where I can get an official copy of the indivduals performance standards agreement?

Could come in very handy at our office at the moment as we're 1 week into delivery methods revision and already Lino's and Dom keep saying they need to look at our performance when we can't complete....ie...counting mail, IWT...ect

The union got the indivduals performance standards agreement which meant that there were no prep test rates , IPS rates there was only 1 minute tests.

Now if you are being bullied than who have you raised it too and what have they done ? The union does not begin or end at CWU HQs it begins at your workplace , Branch and Division and they need to take measures to stop it and if they cant they need to raise it to CWU Hqs.

Good luck.
We had a somebody down last year who was allowed to test us for 1 minute on the IPS and on our fitting. We didn't even know that it was only the IPS that was agreed.

However, I think most of us can live with the 1 minute tests, but in our office they decided to count my mail twice without my knowledge and then call me up to the office the next day to claim I was slow. I must add that they didn't count D2D'S or have a stopwatch.

I must admit that the red mist did come down, but apart from telling them I thought they were out of order and that I thought it was bullying, I decided to take stock and get a grievance in against our DOM.

I have a meeting next Tuesday with a DOM from another office and, as we have no rep in our office, I have the area rep in with me.

What is happening is not just against me, it is against the few of us who are doing the job correctly.
What can I say to get them to stop doing this apart from saying that I have passed the only agreed test and there are no other tests that is agreed?

It's a very stressful situation to be in when we are constantly late off the IPS and everyday you know it's going to be very close in trying to complete.
To be honest, I have only 'cut off' 3 times all year despite being out of the office too late most days, yet instead of any thanks, I am hauled up the moment it is just impossible to complete due to them.

Our DOM has even suggested that she counted somebody else's mail and it was higher than mine, but if there is no figure as to what is a fair rate anyway, then it is ridiculous.

My area rep is a really nice guy, but he doesn't instill confidence in me. I am not convinced he is going to get them to stop this practice.

The procedure says go to stage 3 if you are not happy, but surely this will just be another DOM won't it?

This needs to be addressed at the highest level I believe .

So what do I do if I am not happy with this meeting on Tuesday?

A sit in by the whole office sounds like a goer to me.

And tbf if that's the case we might as well all pack up and go home.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I would love there to be a sit in as you say, but the majority of the office are fliers who come in early, use cars and don't take breaks etc.

All these people think it's great entertainment as they are not feeling the stress and haven't got the balls to do the job correctly.

The few of us who are standing up to this bullying are vulnerable and need the Union to argue that we should not be tested with or without our knowledge without an agreement.

I am saying that I am stuffed if the Union doesn't ensure that it gets stopped, don't you agree?

Thanks postman, have downloaded and printed the doc, cheers. will be circulating this in work. :nana

just one quick question, where it says prep, vertical slot, what is a vertical slot frame? does this mean you should prep 25 items a min for the test on your own walk, eg. a rm2000 fitting?

Yes but the CWU kept giving Labour the money.

The unions in general moved to the right along with new Labour, the TUC thinks it can stick a smiley face on global capitalism and come out the other end quids in.Growth, growth, growth is the mantra from Brendan Barber all we need is to get the economy growing, also as much as i applaud Mark Sowentas? speech at hyde park(no need for cuts-close the tax loops etc) these are all short- term solutions and a bit like asking Fred West to be a bit more gentle.

Its time the left in this country including Bob Crow (forget about the 1917 revolution Bob  ) started looking for new ideas
to stand up for the mass of people who are mere pawns in the endless drive for competition and accumulation of wealth.

There are economists out there who can explain the latest world recession/banking crisis (David Harveys book The Enigma of Capital ) and even right wing economists agree that the post war boom is over and and the rolling back of people living standards in the west must now take place.

None of this is to say we in the CWU could have stopped this or that happening but if our struggles for a decent living are not understood or put into context of the system we all live under then we will continue to be on the losing side and without a clue to why that is.

It's time to stop living in the past dingo...most of those gains were made in the first 5 years of the decade.

Look at what's happened lately.
2008.....1.5%
2009.......0%
2010.......2%
2011.....1.4%
2012........??. :nervous

That's 4 years and a grand total of 4.9%....not nearly good enough when RPI for this year alone is expected to spike above 6%.
And that's without getting into the whole D2D winners and losers debate or the colleagueshare money that seems to have sadly slipped through our fingers again.
We were poorly paid in 2000 but the job had many plus points other than the basic wage, and the earning opportunities were always there.
I welcomed the move towards a higher basic wage but the plus points have sadly gone in this job as have a lot of the earning opportunities and if we are not careful we are in danger of losing ground with the higher basic wage as well.
A great job with poor pay is acceptable.
A poor job with great pay is also acceptable.
A poor job with poor pay won't cut any ice with the membership at all. :cuppa

No...the union does not come out of it well because if the agreement is a disaster for Royal Mail.....it's a disaster for all of us.
If Royal Mail cannot make the savings it needs, they will move onto another business plan and that will be a disaster for all of us.
If they believe they can achieve more savings without union involvement...that will be a disaster for all of us.

If you are saying that the union should somehow take credit for allowing Royal Mail enough rope to hang itself and at the same time drive a wedge between the membership and union HQ to the point where there is no longer trust between what has become three separate entities Membership,HQ and Royal Mail
.....then by all means take a bow. :cuppa

Very good download thanks for IPS. Have emailed my area rep just to make sure he has a copy for next Tuesday. Will get him to put it on the board also.

If I do it they will probably say I am inciting a mass uprising or something equally as daft.

The only bit of the download I am sure about is where it says RM will only apply the conduct code if employees refuse to participate in the 1 min test or where their behaviour falls below expected levels.

What does that mean regarding expected behavior levels?

I sympatise with your plight mate, and as for the idiots in your office laughing about it, maybe they will reap what they sow. I dont have ant magical soloution for you but have you asked to get the walk tested out on the street. Most DOMs run a mile at this because they know that nearly all walks where regular posties are struggling to complete are bound to be undoable, especially if tested following RMs own rules (no walking and reading, no cutting out paths, waiting 2 minutes at a door for Packets and RDs etc) The backing of your colleagues in your office would have been nice, but i`d be going up the union ladder to get proper help with this if it was me, because they should not leave you out to dry.
keep calm at all times, and learn THEIR rules, because most DOMs dont even know them and believe it or not most will justify why you are struggling. GOOD LUCK.

Still don't know what this means. I am sure it is very simple and just about doing what your reasonably asked to do, but I don't want those arses to throw anything at me, so can anyone clarify exactly what expected behavior levels are?

Behaviour means...behaviour.
It has nothing to do with your performance,it means taking the piss, deliberately and obviously failing, throwing a strop, telling your manager to stick his test where the sun don't shine etc...you get the picture. :chuckle

If our shares are worth nothing, how come we are still being 'regulated' into delivering other companys mail for a loss by our regulator? ;liar
