The Isle of Man Trade Union Council is supporting plans for a strike by postal workers next week.

The TUC is backing the action, saying that a pay freeze would have been accepted if the Post Office had had a strong case.

The Communication Workers Union confirmed earlier this week that its workers will strike next Tuesday.

The Isle of Man Post Office says it will be unable to carry out standard deliveries to the Island's homes on this day.

However, Mike Kelly from the Post Office tells Granada Reports that he is still hopeful it won't come to this.
