COULDN'T AGREE MORE ON THE WORK TO RULE. THIS JOINT IS RUN ON O/T (s**t RATES AFTER 10 HOURS & S/A) REMOVE ALL THAT AND THIS PLACE WILL BE ON IT'S KNEES. ABOUT TIME THE PEC REALISED THE SAME THING. IN SAYING THAT ITS PROBABLY TOOOOOOOOO FAR TO SEE FROM THE IVORY TOWER.
Work to rule,or rather do the job properly has been pushed but the 'ivory towers' for years, but the troops ignore it.
What do our colleagues need, wet nursing?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Striking does work its just that recently RM has played the Union at their own game and I hope that the CWU are wise to it.
What RM have done since 2006 is to demmand what they know we wont stand for in the certain knowledge that we will ballot and strike over it. Then when the CWU and RM discuss it they "water" down their demands so that the CWU can claim a success. Obviously the demands before the strike were not their real aim, the watered down ones were their preferred choice.
Why would the CWU want to be wise to it?
It suits both parties for RM to make over the top demands...otherwise how could the union be seen to wring concessions from the business after 4 months of talks?
It's just like selling your car....you ask for 5 grand...he offers 2 grand...you both know it's worth 3 and a half but the game has to be played out so that both sides can walk away convincing themselves that they are the real winners.
What the CWU got wrong was not the price of the car but the car itself....it's a cut&shut...and not a very convincing one either....but it was the only car on the market....wasn't it?

And oh how easy it is to buy it, when you know you aren't going to be driving it or paying the price for keeping it on the road or suffer the consequences of poor welding when the wheels fall off
