Re: Dave Ward Video
Potluck may seem a brutal and blunt word but is the reality of the scheme RMG set up and kept our trade union well out of.
Chance is smoother word but dosent change the reality that shares can go up and down rather than remain static, therefore there is a chance you may get a decent payout but also a chance that you may get a virtually non existent payout. As there is a 6 monthly valuation, two members of staff can in theroy recive wildly differing amounts despite having leaving dates that are weeks apart.
A better way would be to have a set amount given to retirements and voluntary exit packages and for those of us who stayed X % of group profits paid out equally to all CMA/CWU grade staff and subpostamsters. That would have been a far more honest and straightforward scheme.

Just read this and the bit about "not paying agreed wages" made me laugh. The amount of times people have gone out and done overtime for the manager and not been paid for it... Slavery! lolBT2010 wrote:hit them with this dave

striking is the last thing we need!we have already lost money and i for one will not be losing anymore because of the unions inabilaty to get proper agreements in black and white that are legally binding .the cwu lives in the 60s things have moved on boys stamping your feet and putting your fingers in your ears so that you dont see that times have changed is no excuse for the shabby way you are representing us.and shouting strike at every mistake that you yourselves make and expecting us to follow like sheep im sorry but i say no more ,thanks but no thanks..

Sorry but no agreement is legally binding. In an ET they will be taken on board and used as guidance but they have no base in law. This is the same for most employment contracts.mr d wrote:mucker wrote:really ? well if it's strike action i wont be walking out,in fact im not sure how much longer i will paying my sub's to this shanbolick union TBHVery hard indeed and did you also note that the CWU are not ruling out an industrial action ballot.

Dont agree with the 60s bot but I do agree with the sentiment that HQ and some permanent release reps certainly are out of touch. Coming back from the march this weekend I heard 1 full-time release rep suggest something along the lines of allowing them a certain amount of elections (uncontested or contested) before they must take a sabbatical of at least 6 months, where they must return to their former role, before putting themselves forward for re-election.mr d wrote:the cwu lives in the 60s things have moved on boys stamping your feet and putting your fingers in your ears so that you dont see that times have changed is no excuse for the shabby way you are representing us.
I also agree with the general sentiment of this excerpt as well, certainly to be told that we are not a strong office when during 2009 we were trying everything to back up London, but were stymied at every occasion by those further up the chain was a bit galling.mr d wrote:and shouting strike at every mistake that you yourselves make and expecting us to follow like sheep im sorry but i say no more ,thanks but no thanks..

Re: Dave Ward Video
No I don't agree with the 60's sentiment either, in the 60s they'd be storming RM HQ with demands for better pay and working conditions - I would imagine this set up is definitely more a product of the 21st century.
As for the hiatus in serving in a full time role, that would be a good idea and one that has been mooted on this forum many times. It seems to have gone quiet on the reorganisation of the union...................

It's impossible to work to rule because it's broken within hours by many.
And if we don't vote for industrial action?
What do we do?
Nothing?
Just keep letting them walk all over the top of us????
Let the bullying and harrassment continue???
Let them make promises and agreements which they break over and over again???
I for one if it comes to it and is the final alternative and the majority vote for it shall be standing on a picket line involved in IA.
Anyone who crosses a picket line after the majority of the members have voted for IA are basically strike breakers!

What did the last set of strikes achieve for you personally? If I'm being honest I don't think I'm any better off. I didn't strike for the agreement which we got. It has been based on false promises and lies to suit Royal Mail's agenda. Not yours, mine or the CWU's. The CWU were given a few smooth lines, a wink, a smile and maybe even a handshake. Before you know it, the strikes are called of and the 'deal of the century' was accepted.
So if we strike again what do you think will happen? Royal Mail will yet again give the CWU a few smooth lines, a wink, a smile and maybe a handshake. Another pathetic agreement will be reached. We'll be treated to a roadshow and it'll be voted in. Everyone's happy for a few weeks and business as normal. But....
...guess what? Royal Mail will let you down on that agreement. So what you going to do next? Strike again until 'another' agreement is reached and subsequently broken? Just keep going round in circles?

So what should we do please?
Striking obviously doesn't work so what's the alternative?

Re: Dave Ward Video
Striking does work its just that recently RM has played the Union at their own game and I hope that the CWU are wise to it.Just_My_Opinion wrote:gb93 wrote:Give up.

What RM have done since 2006 is to demmand what they know we wont stand for in the certain knowledge that we will ballot and strike over it. Then when the CWU and RM discuss it they "water" down their demands so that the CWU can claim a success. Obviously the demands before the strike were not their real aim, the watered down ones were their preferred choice.
