Still the rumour circulating about PE & CB merging into a new MC to be built near the A1/A14 junction.
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

:hmmmm

Remploy were given 6 months notification from some time late December - early January.
STC's are either on 3month or 6month depending on their letter.

Funny thing is one of the acting late shift managers is an STC so let us see the s**t hit the fan when he gets made substansive and the others are made to depart.
Also take note that we are still employing casuals, the same ones that were on earlies doing DSA/Mailsort. They are simply on lates now for what ever reason.

In regards to closure? I doubt it, but Royal Mail never cease to amaze in the complete and utter stupidity department.

Any one heard any more rumours about the closures in the midlands? Not long to go before the 'review' is complete!

hi if i was a betting man this is how i think it will go.

birmingham, wolves, south midlands, to stop open.
new purpose built mail centre for nottingham derby and leicester.
the remainder being acomodated in the above.
how much money should we put on this scenario then.

Worcester into Birmingham and TF will go into Wolves once Shrewsbury closes and SY goes to Chester.

Is Nottingham MC currently large enough to take Derby and Leicester or could it be extended? New builds only take place if existing sites can't be expanded. Leeds, Swindon and Newcastle all extended. Nottingham MC has a flat sorter and WCM so it will either be the remaining MC or there will be a new build somewhere in the SW of Nottingham near the M1.
Or could CV move to Birmingham and then LE into South Mids? This option seems unlikely or CV would have moved to Birmingham when Coventry closed.

Main announcement expected in June but a preliminary report will be made in April.

Knowing RM...... Birmingham into West Mids MC and LE into PE!

From several sources:-
Wolves and South Mids to remain the same.
Worcester into Birmingham MC.
Derby and Leicester into existing Nottingham MC site. If this is correct Beeston deliveries likely to be outhoused/MC to be extended or both. MC to be called North Mids MC.

I hope your sources are right about Nottingham being kept open .
There is definitely scope to extend and the rumours
about Beeston deliveries moving out have been common.

Yes they are but of course it can only be an assumption based on several factors. In the Distribution management changes, Derby, Leicester and Nottingham are in a cluster. New builds are only a last resort due to cost where an existing single floor MC cannot accommodate the concentration or cannot be extented. Nottingham or close to the M1 seems the best location for all 3 MCs and Beeston is 5 miles from the M1.

I understood the review started on 14 Jan, in which case the 90 days are up now. I also heard that an announcement wouldn't be made until June.
