I am trying to gather information for a project on the Mail coach from London to Holyhead in the 19th century.
Does anyone have any information on the route?

"This one states route! Dublin Express" - but the route changed over the years. This "... - Birmingham Railway Station - Hartford - Chester - .." is quite a late version, " ... The A5 was a 1930s invention although much of it followed the Watling Street built in Roman times.

I live in what was a coaching inn along the road through Penmynydd to Holyhead in Anglesey. Sarn Fraint was extended by my 3x Great Grandfather to accommodate overnight visitors from the mail coach. The local landowner during thos times was Paul Panton of Plas Gwyn and trh name Panton Arms was adopted alongside Sarn Fraint. When the railway was built through Llanfairpwll teh coach service stopped and the inn reverted back to its farmhouse status, as it remains to this day!
