G O totally agree, work to rule in mc,ban on overtime, non co-operation with wcm, someone leaves an imp or ilsm stop the machine,AND ALL DELIVERY TO STOP USING THEIR CARS.do this for one week and it will be more damaging to the thieving scumbags than a one or two day strike.

"Ban on overtime, work to rule" are you aware of the consequences ??
At GMC the suicide rate would go into orbit
But perhaps if people had been" DOING THE JOB PROPERLY"
the way RM told them to then maybe just maybe we would'nt
find ourselves in such a mess.Too many people for decades
have cut corners and now we have agreements in place that
only benefit RM and not us. Now with the shares payments
they have once again ragdolled us. Sorry to be so gloomy
but "You reap what you sow "!!!!

It never ceases to amaze me that anyone would think that a work to rule would fly..............in 20 odd years I have never seen it work, when everyone was full time and the union still had some muscle it wouldn't fly.

Our office is total P&L, no cars on delivery, 50% of the office are part time and actually NEED the overtime to make a living wage so work to rule? No it wouldn't work and could not be imposed, policed or indeed be justified.

It comes up every time there is a sniff of IA in the air.
When you can't even stop members doing overtime for free what chance have you got when it's paid.
And your right it's normally those who never have to do overtime to take home a full-time wage that like to float this idea.
All the fun of IA without the sacrifice. :cuppa

...and as I say to the members in our unit, this'll never work. You will ALWAYS have the 'I'm alright, Jack' brigade who will still come in their cars, take all their 2nd pouches out in their cars, don't have a m/r, start well before their time, not claim but go over to complete. Need I go on? I agree with what you're saying and it would bring RM to their knees but a no goer, sorry

Yep too hard to organise and impossible to enforce. It might be ok even in the strong offices for 1 or 2 days then management will try pressurising the one the think as weak links.

I have to say i agree it wouldn't work. I was trying to offer an alternative, because we sure as hell wouldn't get support for a strike. In 26 years i've seen plenty of strikes that have got us nowhere. I've seen a work to rule etc etc attempted once, maybe twice, in our office, people just bury thier head in the sand. RM knew exactly what they were doing with task and finish, and knew full well that if you dangle the carrot of going home after duty, it's human nature that the flyers of this world would make hay. Were stuffed basicly :arrrghhh

And you would sacrifice nothing because as your user name suggests...you already worktotime.
Whereas a part-timer on a 20hr contract working 40hrs trying to take home a decent wage would be asked to sacrifice half their wages.
Is that or should that be how a union operates?

:hmmmm Perhaps it would be fairer to suggest that people should just work to the time they work to now......which is probably closer to 40 hours on a 20,25,30 hour contract which has been allowed to proliferate in the last few years

you say about a 20hr man working 40hrs to have a decent living great no problem ,but in our office we are due a final revision and repick of dutys (buy the way been doing these for 6 months now and had not a penny) we have lost 10 dutys in the office so who do you think will be the fisrt to go p/t or f/t so how would strikeing for never had phantom shares be wise to lose more money on the picket line.

johno47 wrote:If RM has paid out £1400 to staff who have left recently then then that means that they have forcast the shares still being worth the same ammount in 2012, because any staff who have left should only have got £700 for 2011 and £700 for 2012 because the buy back of shares is over 2 years, so that means RM has projected growth for this year and next, the CWU ought to be asking RM this question?

Sorry, but's that incorrect.

The rules and regulations of the scheme is that those retiring or taking a voluntary exit package have ALL thier share bought back at the most recent valuation not what they might be worth 18 months down the line. This means those who are off due to retirement or voluntary exit package in the new financial year will get diddly squat as that is the new valuation for the first 6 months of 2001/2012.

As if by magic the September 2011 valuation improves matters then those leaving in the last 6 months of the scheme will get some money/more moeny than than preceding 6 month period of staff leaving RM Group.

The phantom shares like real shares go up and down in value and for those retiring/taking a voluntary exit package its pot luck as to most recent valuation being a decent valuation or a crap one.
