loading of trailers in MCs

would be for the driver load his own vehicle but
that cant/wont happen with our kind of set-up

Right lads it is ultimatly the drivers responsibility to make sure all of his lorry/van is loaded correctly proffesional driver or not. Only trained C and N staff members,Distribution STAFF WHO ARE TRAINED can load this lorry, only if they have had the job specific training required in this field. It is soley RMs responsibility whilst on their premises, and as pointed out the responsIbility falls with the driver responsible for driving that lorry, and yes he should strap and make sure any abnormalities are rectified so that his lorry is fit for the public highway. whoever loads it should be trained, & whoever drives it is responsible.

If un sure about any person who is trained, or not trained, ask to see the skills register, anybody carrying out any task, should have the safe system of work explained to them along with the current up to date risk assesment of how that activity is going to be carried out safely and what are the risk involved with it. along with the displaying of the ssow so that all staff/members can refer to it, it should be up to date and on display and not hidden in a folder out of mind. All current paper work for skills ssow and r/as SHOULD BE UP TO DATE THIS IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT BY LAW. IF YOUR NOT TRAINED DO NOT BE BULLIED INTO SOMETHING THAT COULD RENDER YOU LIABLE. CONSULT YOUR AREA H&S REP,OR DIV REP.

a skills register at our place, may well be on display but
just have'nt paid enough attention to look for one.
