goverment are trying to sell us off in the very near future, they want to make as much money as possible from the sale,
now that means they will want as high a percieved value of the company as possible to get as high a share price as possible
would you think they would try and get away with telling us in april company is only worth 100m so small payout to us and then in may say company worth 800m so high share price for purchase? would that even be legal!
and the "independent company" wouldnt it look bad on their reputation if the drastically got it wrong for us and the company sold for way more than their valuation?
just some thoughts!
Sell off would proably take place in 2012 as lots of parlimentary stuff/time still to go by which time the value as if by magic might go up with the spin being another years worth of revision activty has taken place. Perhaps it might be worth while holding on to the shares untill 2012.

Re: Colleague share payout
Just been told of TWO similar situations here on Merseyside. One guy, a long service employee and an EVR from late 2010, both got their £1,500 share payments the other week.Eric Cantona wrote:Postie came in the office this morning ranting about he delivers at a ex posties house who came out and was chatting with him. He told the postie he got his colleague share on Thursday it was over £1.000 after tax. He has left since last October I’m told..
Now, we are being told the company is making a loss due to modernisation and drop in mail volumes - yet d2d and packets have shot through the roof. Some one is cooking the books - and it stinks !
Oh.. and what's the bet that Moya Greene is seen boarding a plane back to Canada some time soon with a couple of suitcases stuffed with cash as her bonus ..

Bet the DIMS and other management types will still be picking up a nice bonus, even if the company is on it's knees with no money. I wonder what our Useless union will be doing about this latest put down by Royal Fail on it's workers? Probably nothing at all Again!

Re: Colleague share payout
Just been sent this from the CWU...
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleague,
RE: ROYAL MAIL GROUP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Union has been told by Royal Mail that the company will be announcing to all employees this week that they are experiencing serious financial difficulties, that they are developing a new business plan and that the value of Colleagueshare is likely to plummet.
The company have explained that the reasons for this are as follows:
- A harsher fall in revenue, profit and volumes than was forecast in the original business plan agreed with Government
- Slower than anticipated progress on modernisation
- A new business plan, in the process of being agreed with Government, that downgrades the future expectations of the company
In response to these announcements the Union has told Royal Mail that we have major concerns about these developments. A letter has been posted to all members’ home addresses and an advanced copy of this is attached.
In the meantime it is important that all CWU Representatives convey the following key messages to our members.
- The Union does not accept that Colleagueshare could have plummeted from a valuation of around £1400 as late as last September – to virtually nothing.
- The company must find a way to honour the previous Colleagueshare commitments and maintain the cash benefits due to our members
- The Union has major concerns around the potential impact that a new business plan may have on all existing Agreements including job security, pay rises, lump sums and the shorter working week
- We are calling for urgent meetings with the company and Government to address these issues.
We will keep you informed of developments.
Yours sincerely

Re: Colleague share payout
Just spoke to pay dept. As a eligible leaver. Their comment was that the shares will not be finshed be re-valued untill the end of March. When that is done, they will be paid out. Unfortunatley no date can be given, and unlike many others I am not going to speculate.
Leavers have just as much a vested interest as current employees, and I for one am trying to keep it in perspective, and contact directly with RM Pay dept.
After all there are a lot of leavers right now, and CWU should be keeping them informed as well, or is it a case of because we don't work there anymore we don't matter?
Once again, my most reliable source of info would appear to be RMC, and possibly RM pay dept.? Although it seems that there are some differences in the information.
