dingo wrote: On Tuesday you will hear exactly what has happened with colleague share but lets just say the valuation had nose dived. You will also hear that the business is in meltdown and is in trouble. Now of course some of this may suit them to quicken up the government bill but it will hardly make Royal Mail an attractive propostion to be aquire.

There are other issues which will also have a bearing , the fact that Royal Mail do not believe they have the money to pay next years pension defecit , they will also say that they are paying more out than they are recieving in cost reductions as a result of the BTA agreement and that it will take 5 years to deploy rather than 3 years. In addition they will say that they will change to CPI the pensions for those employed prior to 1988 who will for all intents and purposes be paying for their defecit themselves.

Oh and some other issues. Will be an intresting week.

Well......lets just ponder on what we each would consider as an interesting week ......... :hmmmm

Winning the lottery on Wednesday
Having a new car given me by a wealthy relative
Opening the front door to a nubile naked young woman eager to be ravished and
Having the wife out to the shops at the time

Now that would be much more interesting than to hear I have been shafted by RM again...............because that's not interesting it's normal :chuckle :chuckle

1. Colleague Shares

Not good news....Value gone down....5 Impactors
1) Pension Defecit 8 Billion
2) Decline in Revenue above forecast
3) Modernisation - Behind schedule / Not getting the money out
4) IT systems spend
5) Property values gone down

Worth Zero!

No payment this year or next

2. MC Rationalisation

London 7 MC down to 5 by 2013

3. Management Restructuring

Moving to the operational area now, the DOM is for the chop.

:nervous Not in the least bit surprised and I think this will just be the tip of the iceberg! But have they really 'gone bust'? Of course, if everbody had voted no in the first place, no money would have been spent on the 'Deal of the century' and we would have had a payout by now!!!
RIP CWU--think there will be another exodus!

Do you mean your DOM is for the chop or they are all for the chop.
I have heard the idea floated on several occasions that we would move to a system where a manager covers a cluster of offices, is that now going to happen?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

How about a Dear Brendan, did you know...
 The need for CWU to recognise that Royal Mail management has absolute accountability
to the public, its customers, employees and stakeholders, for the performance of the
business.
At least those blameworthy were identified before the s**t hit the fan!

From a legal standpoint since the statement in the agreement was:
Additionally both parties recognise that ColleagueShares operates in a way that replaces our traditional approach to productivity and that only by reaching this agreement and working together to deliver transformation will the value of ColleagueShares be higher. The current value is £1.51 per share. They will be bought back by the company in two equal parts in 2011 and 2012.
It doesn't state that the colleague share price can be lower and because it is a legal agreement it cannot be simply withdrawn. Surely all parties would need to sit back around the table, look at things again, investigate failures and valuations and issue a joint statement upon finalising.
