That has to be the funniest thing I have read today.
Are you taking it lying down DGP?

Technically he didn't say you voted for Dubaya though he questioned the intelligence of those who did, and hoped that he had explained it in a way they could understand. Ok he could have been more gentle but the questions you asked has already been answered in the thread as far as possible, and I think he was a little frustrated. (He does like winding up Americans on other websites as well - they think we are commies)

The specific question about how long it spends on ship its similar to the how long is a piece of string. It would depend on too many variables to give you any guidance beyond that which has already been posted in this thread.
Well I am not necessarily american. I consider myself a citizen of the world with a much broader philosophical base than the average nationalist idiotic american, so I take offense to being associated with that sort. The reason I re-iterated certain aspects of previous questions is because that particular aspect was never spelled out for me.
I thought it had been on this point by the post by Swinder

Here is the approximate delivery times taken directly from the RM website.
If you use International Signed For™ with Airmail delivery, our target time is three working days to Western Europe, five working days to Eastern Europe and seven working days for the rest of the world. By Surface Mail, it may take up to two weeks for Western Europe, four weeks for Eastern Europe, and up to twelve weeks elsewhere. For faster delivery times you should use Airsure®, if it's available for your destination.

For standard Air Mail (Letter size)
The day after you’ve posted your mail, it usually takes three more days to reach Western Europe, five days to Eastern Europe and seven days to the rest of the world.

I guess I am use to a system where you can pay 3$ USD to have every miniscule detail of your envelopes movement tracked. This not knowing exactly what is what scenario is just sort of new to me.
That would partly explain the $451,000,000 loss in January alone, $781,000,000 in Q1 of 2011, and a frightening $8.5 billion in 2010.

This thread has been rather amusing :chuckle

As far as I'm aware, most international airmail leaves the UK the day after posting. The reason your letters are taking longer than usual to arrive is due to a problem in the US that is effecting inbound mail from all countries, not just the UK!

Due to a failed parcel bomb back in November, The United States Department of Homeland Security is continuing to require increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, some mail entering the US from around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes.

So it's highly likely this is the reason your letters have been delayed - nothing to do with Royal Mail.

I had an items sent from London to my house in the midwestern US on 3/22. It was a purchase I was very much looking forward to receiving and of some value, so I asked for insured post. It was paper only, a small package sent Royal Mail Signed for and we are going on 21 days now with no sign of the package. The irony is that I purchased another item from the same seller, sent later by regular mail and received it weeks ago. I don't know if the extra security measures are still in place due to the mail bomb, but I know that caused huge delays. Fingers crossed it will arrive within the next week. It is frustrating to pay extra for this service and have this happen.
