We would not be able to answer that with any confidence as once it enters the destination country we hand over responsibility to the National Universal Service Provider - in your case USPS.unwillinglyamerican wrote:And what is the longest that a recorded surface mail option might take? 2-3 weeks?Swinder wrote:I believe Surface mail might have an optional service which allows for the recorded delivery service, I might be wrong but it certainly would fit the times your friend was quoted.unwillinglyamerican wrote:Okay my friend says that it was sent via recorded delivery and that the person at the post office said it will take 2-3 weeks to arrive at the most. This is getting confusing and this is not tallying with the information you people are giving to me. You say it should only take 7 working days to reach places outside the UK right? Well the postal worker told her today that it would take 'up to' 2-3 weeks, even for this APPARENT recorded delivery. ugh!
Another thing worth noting is that "Recorded Delivery" can be both first and second class mail (air and surface mail), it does not speed up delivery times it merely allows for the sender to receive proof that delivery is made with the receivers signature.

OK listen very carefully I will say this only once (although it's been said to you many times but you've always ignored it) it's gone from the UK, it's in the US, try contacting the USPS because they have it not us. I hope this was explained to you in a way that even the dumbest, George Bush voting American can understand.unwillinglyamerican wrote:And finally, how long does it take to travel abroad to the u.s via this surface mail option (which I am assuming is boat)?fishtank wrote:Very generally 2-3 days at most.unwillinglyamerican wrote: Well what is the longest it remains in the UK, generally speaking?

And I want to emphasize that I, like many other americans, HATED george w bush. So your implication of my status as a voter is not only pathetically misleading but judgmental and moronic.

Technically he didn't say you voted for Dubaya though he questioned the intelligence of those who did, and hoped that he had explained it in a way they could understand. Ok he could have been more gentle but the questions you asked has already been answered in the thread as far as possible, and I think he was a little frustrated. (He does like winding up Americans on other websites as well - they think we are commies)unwillinglyamerican wrote:And I want to emphasize that I, like many other americans, HATED george w bush. The specific question about how long it spends on ship its similar to the how long is a piece of string. It would depend on too many variables to give you any guidance beyond that which has already been posted in this thread.

Well I am not necessarily american. I consider myself a citizen of the world with a much broader philosophical base than the average nationalist idiotic american, so I take offense to being associated with that sort. The reason I re-iterated certain aspects of previous questions is because that particular aspect was never spelled out for me. To be completely honest the process of the transfer of mail out of your country seems very vague at best. I guess I am use to a system where you can pay 3$ USD to have every miniscule detail of your envelopes movement tracked. This not knowing exactly what is what scenario is just sort of new to me.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Technically he didn't say you voted for Dubaya though he questioned the intelligence of those who did, and hoped that he had explained it in a way they could understand. Then if it was so important to you then why didn't you.................oh wait, you didn't pay for anything which means you're not even the customer, it's nothing to do with Royal Mail as soon as it leaves the UK, I don't understand how you don't get that into your thick skull............nothing to do with us (I could keep repeating that until you finally understand), log onto the USPS website and annoy them or better still, head down to your local office and use the same attitude with them as you have with us and maybe you'll get and answer (but remember your body armour because the term 'going postal' was invented for your letter carriers).unwillinglyamerican wrote:Well I am not necessarily american. If I am the one here with the THICK SKULL why is it that certain aspects of my questions go completely passed up? As if the details are just minutiae to toss into the wind? And the reason I am asking is because my friend asked me to inquire on this website because she apparently misplaced the tracking info. Okay brainiac? Now why don't you do us both a favor and take your holier than thou attitude to your queen, and ask her to borrow her panties, because obviously yours have grown tired of you and skipped town!

Two things, the item is in the States not in the UK so RM have NOTHING to do with itunwillinglyamerican wrote:

And this is an UNOFFICIAL site and has NOTHING to do with RM, if you really want you could try asking RM but they'll give you the same information (probably less).
To repeat - nothing to do with us, look to the US where the item has sent to.
ps. I think you'll find that you spell favoUr with a u.

Re: Mail from UK to U.S not arrived after 19 days?
Come on guys, this is getting out of hand! Unwillinglyamerican came on here asking for help, not abuse.
Now personally, I don't know enough about International post to be of much (if any) help (I don't work in that section), which is why I haven't posted about this before.
Unwillinglyamerican, as has already been pointed out, this is an unofficial site, where anyone connected to Royal Mail Group (Employees, Union, Customers, Press, etc.) can discuss the issues of the day. And this section in particular, is for Customers to ask for help/advice from those of us who work for Royal Mail. So yes, this is normally a good place to ask about these things.
Have you tried contacting the USPS yet?
If not, it would be a good idea to try, as they should have recieved it some time ago, unless it went via Surface Mail. How long that option takes, I don't know. Hopefully, someone who works in that section of RM will be able to tell you. If you contact the sender, you should be able to find out whether it went by Surface or Air Mail.
If it definately went by Air Mail, and USPS hasn't recieved it yet. Then it's been lost somewhere in the system. Either at our end, or between the Plane and the USPS Mail Centre (or whatever they call it over there).

Re: Mail from UK to U.S not arrived after 19 days?
Andy, he's been told that multiple times but he just won't listen, he keeps harping on and on even though he's been told. The person posting the item needs to start a complaint but as they've 'lost the tracking number' and they used recorded delivery instead of the Airsure they have no chance of anything being done.
I suppose he'll ask you the same question over and over again until he gets the answer he wants until even you get pissed at him.
